Kane Brown Talks 'Different' Experience of Being a Boy Dad: 'It's Been Cool'

Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn are the proud parents of three children. The couple already had two girls when they welcomed their son Krewe last June, an addition that Brown says completes their family. After already having daughters Kingsley, five, and three-year-old Kodi, Brown had become accustomed to being a girl dad, but says it’s an entirely new experience having a son.

“It’s been cool,” Brown tells People. “I love my two daughters, and so it’s [an] amazing feeling having daughters, but there’s also a different feeling of having a son, and I’m just very grateful that I get to experience both of those. And he’s just been so awesome and just so smiley, the happiest baby ever because he’s my boy.”

Brown is proud of his his daughters are adjusting to having a younger sibling, even if they can get a little over-exuberant sometimes.

“Best big sisters in the world,” Brown boasts. “I have to pry Kodi off of him sometimes. They just surround him, just run over and give him kisses, and just love him to death. And then Kingsley is just an awesome big sister for both of them.”

Brown released his The High Road album earlier this year, but says he is already working on a massive new album, one he hopes to release in 2025.

“We’re trying to put another one out this year,” Brown hints to Audacy. “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but we’re trying … I just want to put a new album out. I feel like I’ve just been chilling, so I’m ready to go. I’m getting hungry again.”

Whether or not Brown gets another record out this year remains to be seen. But whenever his next project comes out, it will be hard to beat what he did with The High Road.

“This is by far my favorite album, from the sequencing to the songwriting to the different sounds. There’s definitely a song for everybody,” Brown boasts to The Associated Press.. “My other albums, I always kind of cared what people thought about. And this album, we don’t… We gave our everything into the songs.”

Included on The High Road is “Haunted,” a song about depression that Brown released with Jelly Roll.

“I hope it will give awareness to other people,” Brown tells American Songwriter. “One of the main things is actually talking about it. If you don’t talk about it, that’s what makes it dangerous. If nobody knows, nobody can help you.”

Brown has several more dates on his The High Road Tour. He has a Top 10 hit with “Backseat Driver,” from The High Road. Find all of Brown’s music and upcoming shows at KaneBrownMusic.com.
