Kenny Chesney is one day away from opening night of his Live at Sphere Las Vegas residency. The show, which begins on May 22, is the product of a year of hard work, dedication and thinking outside of the box for Chesney, who is keeping his fans first and foremost in all of the details.
“You can’t truly imagine it,” Chesney hints. “When people say you have to experience it to really understand, they aren’t kidding. Even with all the simulators, the special editing facilities, the way we have approached rehearsals, it wasn’t until we got inside Sphere that me, the band, the crew and all our road family truly got it. It is a whole other world – and I can’t wait for the people who’ve loved this music so intensely to experience this.
“Experience, because it’s so much more than just seeing a concert,” he adds.
With more than three decades of hits to choose from, Chesney is making sure that the songs stay front and center throughout each show.
“[I’m] keeping the focus on these songs,” Chesney reveals. “It made us really creative. Some of what we shot, the way the sound is being sculpted, we’re taking these songs deeper into what they can be – and when we got onstage to start rehearsing, everybody was blown away by how much more every single song seemed to mean.”
In addition to his shows, the 57-year-old has created plenty of fan experiences, to make sure they have a night they will never forget.
“You really do have to experience it to feel how deep this goes,” Chesney says. “We can’t wait to get everybody into the room to feel that energy. We are always coming to rock No Shoes Nation, and they rock us right back. Something tells me this is going to be even more intense.”

When planning how he wanted Live at Sphere to go, he knew he wanted to give concert attendees some of the same experiences that they have when they travel to stadiums to see him perform.
“Vegas is too hot to tailgate, so we figured we’d bring as much of it indoors as we can,” Chesney explains. “I hear everybody tailgating way more than they know… So many times, I want to just jump on a gator and come out there for the party. To not have that energy? I think our shows have always started when the parking lot opens, so consider this your chance.
“I’ve been in my warehouse, my journals and my hard drives working on Heart*Life*Music, and I’ve found a lot of things that were too cool to leave at home,” he continues. “To be in one place, I can create a world where many of the pictures, the pieces of the puzzle, even the American Kids bus could be part of what we give you to say, ‘Thanks for being part of this’ before you come to the show.”
In addition to headlining Live at Sphere, Chesney will also become a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame this year.
