Alexandra Kay scored the opportunity of a lifetime, when she was invited to open for Brad Paisley on his Truck Still Works Tour. For Kay, being able to tour with the Grand Ole Opry member is more than a dream come true, and also a chance for her to learn from the legendary singer.
“Being on tour with Brad has been absolutely incredible,” Key shares on Country 89 Radio. “Brad is an incredible person, so nice, so kind. And just really to keep good people around you, because every single person from him all the way down to the guys that drive his trucks, drive his bus and work on his crew, everybody is just as amazing. I think you can have a successful tour if you keep great people and kind people around you. I’m definitely going to keep that in mind and continue to make those decisions to keep a great camp around me as well. Brad’s been absolutely incredible.”
Kay also gets to sing “Whiskey Lullaby” with him during each of his shows, something she says is a “dream come true.”
“He jets in and jets back to Nashville, so we don’t have a whole lot of time to see each other than being on stage,” Kay reveals. “We have these little in between the musical breaks of ‘Whiskey Lullaby.’ He’ll be like, ‘Hey, how are you? Great.’ It’s so, so funny, but it’s been an absolute blast.”
Alexandra Kay’s New Single
Kay is getting ready to release what she predicts is going to be her first chart-topping single. The Illinois native will release “Straight For The Heart” on August 8. The song is from her forthcoming new album, her first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.

The song joins “Cupid’s a Cowgirl,” “The Last,” “Better Off,” and “Feminine Energy,” all songs she can’t wait to release to the world.
“It’s been an absolute joy to work with them on this project,” Kay boasts to Entertainment-Focus, speaking of her new label home. “They are so caring and they really put the artist first, which is not something every label does. A lot of people [said], ‘Oh, you were so independent for so long and you waved that flag so high,’ and I did. But it’s been cool to have this incredible team that will push me to the next level now.”
The feisty track says in part, “If you pull a trigger aim straight for the heart / If you’re gonna break it, baby, break it bad / Make it so I never want you back / Give me a damn good reason / If you’re leaving, then better leave a scar / Say you never even loved me to begin with / Make me hate you, make me something that I won’t miss / Take it way too far / If you pull that trigger, aim straight for the heart.”
Kay has yet to announce a title or release date for her next album, but she does say it will be out this year. Find all of Kay’s music and upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
