Ray Stevens Gives New Update After Undergoing Second Heart Procedure

Ray Stevens is giving a new update after recovering from a heart attack and two surgeries. The Country Music Hall of Fame member reveals he had another procedure last month, where he received two stents to clear up more blockages. Stevens is once again recovering, but has made a heartbreaking decision about his CabaRay venue in Nashville.

“At 86 and with my recent health problems, it’s probably time to slow down, and selling CabaRay is the first step,” says Stevens. “But in the interim, I still plan on doing shows once I’m fully recovered. I still have a lot I want to do in the recording studio, so I’ll focus all of my energy in that direction along with making videos to go along with the music from time to time.”

Stevens adds that he hopes CabaRay has more music coming out for years to come, albeit with a new owner.

“I’d like to see someone buy it and have as much fun here as I’ve had,” he adds.

What Happened To Ray Stevens

On July 4, Stevens had a heart attack, revealing the news several days later on social media.

“Ray Stevens is in recovery after undergoing minimally invasive heart surgery yesterday morning,” a post reads on July 8. “Last Friday evening, Ray complained of chest pain and was admitted to a Nashville hospital. After a heart catheterization procedure, it was determined he’d suffered a mild heart attack.”

The post goes on to say that all performances throughout July were canceled, while Stevens focuses on his recovery.

What Ray Stevens Said About Performing At CabaRay

In early 2024, Stevens announced he would cease performing regularly at his CabaRay.

“I plan to stop performing regularly at my CabaRay Showroom here in Nashville at the end of 2024, but I’ll be going to work every day in my recording studio and maybe I’ll do a few, a very few, shows in some old familiar places,” Stevens said at the time. “I’m definitely slowing down but I haven’t come to a complete stop. Not yet, anyway!”

Fortunately, Stevens returned to performing, giving fans several more months to be entertained by the singer-songwriter.

Cards can still be sent to Stevens at 5724 River Road, Nashville, TN 37209. Currently, Stevens’ next performance at CabaRay is scheduled for September 6. Find tickets and more information at RayStevensCabaRay.com.
