Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, recently announced that she is pregnant with their fifth child, but they may not be done yet. Rhett reveals that because his three oldest daughters are so good with their youngest, Lillie Carolina, he would consider having even more after Akins gives birth to their next child.
“Sometimes you don’t have to rely on a grandmother,” Rhett tells his record label. “I could literally put Lillie in Willa Gray’s arms and be like, ‘Are you good for five minutes?’ And she’d be like, ‘Yeah, I’m good.’ … But man, I love it. Especially after having four. I’m like, ‘How bad could it be with six?’ You know? So, we’ll see what happens in the next five or six years.”

Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins’ Growing Family
Rhett and Akins are proud parents to Willa Gray, who is nine, eight-year-old Ada James, Lennon Love, who is five years old, and Lillie Carolina, who will turn four in November. Rhett has previously said he hopes to have a big family someday.
“It is very stressful, I feel like, to travel with your kids and still know that you’re waking up at six and you’re also playing a show at night,” Rhett previously told ABC, after the arrival of Ada. “So in that aspect, I’m going, ‘I love my two kids and I’m kind of content.’
“If we stopped having kids now, I know I’d wake up at 45 and go, ‘We should have had five more,’” he added. “Because I really do want to be able to sit at a Thanksgiving or Christmas table with the most gigantic family on the planet.”
Still, Rhett acknowledges that it can be hard to balance his career with a wife and four daughters.
“Obviously, [I’ve] been blessed with an amazing family, blessed with being able to play shows and make music,” Rhett reflects. “But I think as my kids get older, it does become more challenging to do as much as I used to. I still try to keep up on social media, but at the same time, I do feel like when I am on social media a lot, then I’m neglecting something else. And my kids will always take precedence over that stuff.
“But at the same time,” he adds, “my wife and my kids know that this is what I love and what I was born to do, and so I think it’s just more about balancing the time now than it is just doing it all the time.”

Rhett and Akins have been married since 2012. The couple has had their own share of ups and downs, but have found the secret to having a successful marriage, at least for them.
“Be aligned on all fronts,” Rhett suggests on Audacy. “Finances, the way that we’re gonna raise our kids, the schools we’re gonna go to, church we’re gonna go to. Just being [together] the whole way makes for so much more of a peaceful marriage. But it takes work, and it takes a lot of conversation. And maybe some arguments here and there, but I think just alignment is what I would say.”
“We’ve all done a lot of therapy,” he continues. “We’ve all worked a lot on ourselves. And I think that that’s kind of put us where we are now. And it’s been fun to pour into younger people. I feel like my wife and I both, we love doing that so much.”
