A new song, “On A River,” from About A Woman (Deluxe), is coming from Thomas Rhett. Rhett shares a video of him and his wife, Lauren Akins, along with a clip of “On A River.” Rhett captions the video by saying the song will be out on Friday, September 19.
“On A River” says in part, “Honey, when you quit singing, and you put down that guitar / And you look into the future, tell me where we are / And I said, ‘I see me and you on a river / A little house with a couple of chairs / Homemade chili and cold beer for dinner / We’ll count the stars and the grays in our hair / We’ll spend our mornings walking with Jesus / We’ll spend our evenings talking to God / Close your eyes, baby can’t you see us / Watching sunsets like it’s our job / If I could paint a perfect picture, I see me and you on a river.”

Thomas Rhett’s ‘About A Woman (Deluxe)’ Album
About A Woman (Deluxe) will be out on September 26 on streaming platforms. The new record, available on October 3 on CD and vinyl, features a total of 25 songs.
“I can’t even describe the joy I’ve felt this summer,” Rhett says of performing songs from About A Woman on his Better in Boots Tour. “It is unreal how much fans have made this new music part of their lives – they’ve come out to dance and sing along at shows, added favorites to their playlists and tuned in on the radio in a way that I will remember the rest of my life.”
Rhett also shares his thoughts on About A Woman (Deluxe) on social media.
“I promised y’all a summer full of new music and we did just that,” he writes. “Getting to play these new tracks on the road for y’all has made this tour even better than we could’ve imagined. We’ve got three more coming your way 9/26. These last three songs wrap up the entire deluxe edition of About A Woman. Cheers y’all.”
Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins’ Growing Family
Rhett has more to look forward to than just a new album. He and Akins recently announced they are expecting their fifth child. And according to Rhett, they still may not be finished adding to their family.
“Sometimes you don’t have to rely on a grandmother,” Rhett tells his record label. “I could literally put Lillie in Willa Gray’s arms and be like, ‘Are you good for five minutes?’ And she’d be like, ‘Yeah, I’m good.’ … But man, I love it. Especially after having four. I’m like, ‘How bad could it be with six?’ You know? So, we’ll see what happens in the next five or six years.”
Rhett just celebrated his 24th No. 1 single with “After All The Bars Are Closed.” Find all of Rhett’s music and upcoming shows at ThomasRhett.com.
