Thomas Rhett is sharing the moment he found out his wife, Lauren Akins, was pregnant with the couple’s fifth child. Rhett and Akins are already proud parents to Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love, and Lillie Carolina.
In the video, Akins is seen setting up her phone to take a video, before gathering their childern together, along with Rhett.
“Remember the present that we got for Daddy? It did not come in, but something else did,” Akins says, showing off multiple pregnancy tests, as Rhett dissolves in laughter.

What Thomas Rhett Says About Having 5 Children
Rhett recently recounted the moment when he found out Akins was pregnant again.
“I remember coming home from the road on Father’s Day,” Rhett recalls on SiriusXM‘s The Highway “That was my gift, three positive pregnancy tests, which is pretty rad. We’re super jacked.”
Akins always said she wanted a large family, although Rhett wasn’t sure that her dream would actually come true.
“I remember when Lauren and I got married, she was always like, ‘You know, I do want five kids,’” Rhett says. “And 13 years ago, you’re kind of like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. That sounds good. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.’ And then you have one, and then you have two, and then you have three, and then you have four. And this last one, I just could not believe it, because actually, we’d been trying for quite a while. And not that we gave up trying, but we kind of just left it all just open-ended.”

Rhett and Akins already have four daughters. With this child, which Rhett hints will likely be their last child, the couple is choosing to keep the gender a surprise.
“I was kind of against it at first because I’m such a planner in life,” Rhett reveals. “I really wanted to know. If it’s a girl, it’s like, ‘Oh, okay. I know how to do that.’ But if it’s a boy, I need to start stocking up on my books. I need to start learning how to raise a boy. But I think it is one of the very few surprises left in life. You can find anything out in the world. And so ,we’re gonna give the card to one of our friends so we have one friend in life that knows what the gender is, so that if it is a boy, we can have boy things. But yeah, I’m jacked.”
The 35-year-old adds that he believes Akins is pregnant with a son, but he truly doesn’t care either way.
“I think it’s a boy,” Rhett shares. “I have a gut feeling that it’s a boy. I do. But we’d be thrilled either way.”
