New music is here from Chris Young! The Tennessee native just dropped a brand-new song, “Christmas Ain’t Christmas.” Young wrote the song with Joel Hutsell, Emma Lee, and Lindsay Rimes. He also released his version of the holiday classic, “Silver Bells.”
“Christmas Ain’t Christmas” says, “Christmas ain’t Christmas without you / Only thing on my list for December 25th is for you to show up out of the blue / Missin’, girl I’m missin’ what we used to do / I’m hoping Santa shows, don’t leave me in the cold / ‘Cause Christmas ain’t Christmas without you.”
Young hinted that he had holiday music coming out, ahead of his It Must Be Christmas – An Acoustic Evening with Chris Young Tour, which kicks off on November 20.
“Never done one before,” Young says on Country Countdown USA, referring to his Christmas tour. “I’ve recorded a lot of Christmas music. There may be new Christmas music coming soon. I love that season. I love decorating for Christmas. The music from that holiday is really special. I’m going to do smaller rooms, Christmas at the beginning, hits in the middle, and more Christmas music at the end. We’re gonna make it fun. It’s gonna be a very different kind of show, and I’m excited about it.”
Chris Young’s It Must Be Christmas – An Acoustic Evening with Chris Young Tour
Young’s It Must Be Christmas – An Acoustic Evening with Chris Young Tour might be his first Christmas tour, but it’s been a long tiem coming. Young admits he loves all things Christmas especially the music.
“Christmas is probably my favorite holiday,” Young says. “Music was always heavily tied to the spirit of the season for me, so I can’t wait to celebrate that feeling with everyone out on the road this year!”
In 2016, Young released It Must Be Christmas. The Grand Ole Opry member says he will play songs from that album, along with some of his own hits.
“I’ve never done a Christmas tour before,” Young says (via Entertainment-Focus). “So we’re doing this different where it is an acoustic evening, it’s me and two of my guys, my guitar player and my keyboard player, and I’m just going to sit there and I’m going to make what I affectionately refer to as a Christmas sandwich. There’s going to be Christmas music at the beginning, Christmas music at the end and then, in the middle, I’m going to do some of the new stuff.”
Chris Young’s ‘I Didn’t Come Here To Leave’ Album
Young recently released his latest I Didn’t Come Here To Leave album. The record is his first on Black River Entertainment, his new label home, after spending all of his career up until now on RCA Records. Young planned on meeting with several other labels, but as soon as he met with Black River Entertainment, he knew he had found his home.
“I’m in this meeting, and the very first thing they show me is a sheet of all of the nice things that everyone has said about me on the internet,” Young recalls on TalksShopLive. “And I got really emotional about it. I was like, ‘Wow. This is so backwards from every business meeting I’ve ever been in.’ So I played them a bunch of the songs that I had that were ready for the record, that I had no idea what I was going to do with, because ‘Young Love & Saturday Nights’ had just gone No. 1.
“I didn’t think I was going to be making a new record for a long time, and they were like, ‘We want you to make whatever record you want,’” he adds. “I stood up from that meeting, and I was like, ‘That’s where I want to be.’”
