Kane Brown just shared a vulnerable post on social media, along with the lyrics of a new song. After Brown was surprisingly not nominated for any CMA Awards, the father of three posted a telling new song.
“Today’s just another day I’m beating myself up and I’m feeling down, but I will never let it beat me,” he captions the song. “All my underdogs out there keep fighting.”
The lyrics to the song seem to be autobiographical to Brown’s own life. It begins with, “Daddy’s in jail and momma’s single / Ramen for dinner with a side of Pringles / On a paper plate / Ate it every day / On my own at 17 / Grabbed my Xbox and a pair of jeans / And I got out / On the first bus outta that town.”

Kane Brown Opens Up About His Past
Brown has been vocal about his past, and his struggles throughout childhood. He recently recalled one time he and his cousin were caught smoking, and the terrible punishment his stepfather at the time inflicted on them.
“We were smoking behind the trailer, and they caught us,” Brown said on the The Great Company podcast. “They made us eat it. But he always – he made me eat bars of soap, shaved my head. And this was different stepdads, by the way. He shaved my head and put aftershave on it. I remember just rubbing my head on the carpet like a dog’s a–. … I was doing the same thing but with my head.”
Surprisingly, the father of three holds no ill will towards those who treated him unkindly while he was a child.
“It made me who I am today,” Brown says. “It made me strong.”
Kane Brown’s Physical Transformation
Brown underwent a massive physical transformation this year. He reveals that he decided to get in shape mostly because of his mental health.
“[I felt] worthless,” Brown tells People. “Really dark thoughts. I wanted to be in a corner, left alone.”
Brown knew that wasn’t an option, so he focused on what he could change, which for him was his physical health.
“I knew I needed to make a change,” Brown says. “I needed something that was going to change my headspace. I didn’t feel there was anything better than changing the way I look.”
Fortunately, Brown’s wife, Katelyn, is also supportive of her husband and his fitness goals.
“[She is] a healthy, healthy person,” Brown boasts. “She broke me out of a lot of my bad habits. I think she’s happier with how I am now.”
Now that Brown is focusing on his health, including running, eating a healthy diet, and giving up alcohol, the 32-year-old feels better, both physically and mentally.
“Getting in shape changed my mindset. I feel like I’m restarting my youth. I love everything it’s done to me, from the way I look to my mental state,” Brown says. “I want to give everything 100 percent now. And if I’m having a stressful day, I can find good things about life and about being here.”
