Lainey Wilson is dropping a few hints about her next album. Wilson, whose Whirlwind record came out in 2024, says her next set of tunes will show a different, more personal, side of her.
“I’ve written so many songs at this point, I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s time to dig deeper. What have I not talked about? What am I learning about myself?'” Wilson says on The Bobby Bones Show. “And so, I think if I’m willing to be open and honest about all of my feelings and stuff, which I keep a lot to myself, too. You can’t tell all your business. Then you have none. Then I feel like I still have a lot more to share.”
Wilson adds that, while she is eager to share more of who she is with her fans, there are some parts of her life that she will always keep private, including her relationship with her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
“I definitely think it’s very important for me to try to keep some stuff. … Even though me and Duck, everybody knows about us and our relationship, that’s another thing that’s really sacred to me,” says the singer. “I just want to do what most married couples do, and treat each other that way. I do feel like it can get pretty sticky or dangerous when everybody knows.”
Wilson doesn’t have a timeline for her next record. But she does say she wants to get it out as soon as possible.
“I’m always working for the next thing, so hopefully sooner rather than later,” the reigning CMA Awards Entertainer of the Year tells Us Weekly. “I’ve been writing a bunch. It’s fun to go to these different cities, look outside your window and be in a different place every day, and be able to take advantage of that and be creative in these different parts of the world. Everywhere you can imagine, we’re writing a song about it.”

Lainey Wilson On Her Relationship With Devlin “Duck” Hodges
Wilson and Hodges were engaged earlier this year, and are planning on getting married in 2026. The couple began dating in 2021, but waited two years to go public with their relationship.
“I’ve been so busy this year that we’re like, ‘We’re gonna figure it out, for sure,'” Wilson says. “He’s such a good dude. He is my best friend. He’s my biggest cheerleader. We lift each other up. He understands that this life is full of a lot of late nights and travel, and we might be ships passing in the night, but he’s always my rock through it all. He’s my home, no matter where we are. I feel like my blood pressure comes down, and he’s a safe place to land. I can just let loose.”
Wilson will likely also include plenty of songs about Hodges on her next record.
“Just like every girl, every now and then we’re reminded of terrible relationships we were in, so it’s real easy for me to tap back into that,” Wilson explains. “He makes it really easy for me to write a love song nowadays… But part of being a songwriter is being able to step back into a pair of shoes you wore years before or somebody else’s. I write with such incredible people, and they definitely help me dive a little deeper.”
