Ella Langley has a new song, out now. The rising star just released “Dandelion,” the title track of her forthcoming sophomore album. Langley wrote “Dandelion” with Austin Goodloe, Joybeth Taylor, and Brett Taylor.
“Dandelions are masters of survival, thriving in even the harshest environments,” Langley says of her new album. “Often dismissed as a common weed, this unassuming plant carries a deeper symbolism of hope, healing, and resilience. This next record to me has so much growth in it”.
Dandelion will be released on April 10.
Ella Langley’s Hit Single, “Choosin’ Texas”
The release of “Danelion” comes as Langley has a hit single at radio with “Choosin’ Texas.” She wrote the song with Miranda Lambert, who is co-producing Dandelion, plus Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor.
“We were on one of these things called a writer’s retreat, where you take a couple of your favorite people and you just sit down for however many days and write songs,” Langley recalls (via Country Rebel). “And hopefully some of them are good.”
The inspiration for “Choosin’ Texas” came from an unlikely story Lambert told Langley.
“She told me she had a pet kangaroo, and she was doing something,” Langley recounts. “She was driving down a dirt road, and the kangaroo was in the back seat, and the dog was in the front seat. There was a lot going on. Then she got pulled over with a kangaroo in the passenger seat. And I was like, ‘This story’s as good as I thought it would be.’ She said the lady cop pulled her over, and she’s like, ‘Of course I have Texas plates on the back of my car.’”
The Lyrics to “Dandelion” by Ella Langley
Tried leavin’ where I come from, but I’m always gonna go back
I tried sippin’ on the champagne, but it’s always gonna be Jack
There’s things I can’t change, like how I was raised
The Bible in my blood, and the ‘Bama in my veins
Ain’t a pink bouquet in the flower store
I’m okay if I’m a little more
Dandelion
Born to live free, ridin’ on a breeze
On a summer night
Tucked back in the weeds, guess that’s just me
In a bed of red roses, I’m the one growin’ up on the wilder side
So if you’re tired of thorns, I’m a littlе more
Dandelion
No stranger to a dirt road or a country muddy rivеr bank
If you’re pickin’ me, you oughta know
I wasn’t made for a fancy crystal vase
A Mason jar and old blue jeans, from my roots to my boots, I’ll always be
Been a little overlooked all my life
But if you know where to look
It sounds like you might like
Whoa, dandelion
Oh dandelion
Dandelion
Been a little overlooked, yeah, all my life
Well, at least I made you look maybe once or twice
Dandelion
