Kane Brown and his wife, Katleyn Brown, are putting their own spin on a Disney classic. The two sing on “Beauty and the Beast,” part of a new EP, Main Street Country, out on April 3.
“It took me hours to get it right,” Kane tells People. “I was frustrated, to be honest. I’m not used to staying in the studio for hours and hours and hours to try and do harmonies and sing soft. I remember just leaving the studio and I went and sat on the front porch.”
“It was totally out of our element,” adds Katelyn. “[Kane] knew it was a big song with two totally different styles — and he wasn’t used to that. But from my background of singing, I was really used to that. So just hearing him in this different way was so beautiful.”
This isn’t the Browns’ first duet. They had a massive hit in 2022 with “Thank God.”
Why Katleyn Brown Was Eager to Sing ‘Beauty and the Beast’ With Her Husband, Kane Brown
Kane might be the one who is usually in the spotlight, but it’s Katelyn who admits she is a big fan of Disney.
“I say I’m a Disney kid, but I’m like a Disney adult,” Katelyn concedes. “We have to go three times a year with the kids and do all the things. I don’t know who’s the bigger kid. We go on every ride, and I’m hitting every gift shop.”
Still, the mother of three was especially excited to sing “Beauty and the Beast,” in spite of how challenging the song is to sing.
“I was really excited to do this one,” Katelyn says. “‘Beauty and the Beast’ is the most iconic, most beautiful Disney song. I just knew we had to do this one. Plus, this was definitely in my realm and my style of singing.”
What Kane Brown Says About Being a Father
Together, Kane and Katelyn share six-year-old Kingsley, four-year-old Kodi, and son Krewe, who is 21 months. Parenting with his wife is what inspired his new song, “Woman,” out now.
“The longer we are together, especially with our kids growing up, the more I just don’t want to miss a moment,” Kane shares. “The last two or three years, I’ve just been a homebody. If I leave and they’re not with me, I don’t know what to do with myself.”
Kane, who will soon appear in the film The Token Groomsman, is laser-focused on his career, but insists his family will always come first.
“The hardest thing is trying to take opportunities because that’s when I’m away from them,” Kane says. “I’m always ready to be home.”
