Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn, just released a new take on “Beauty and the Beast.” The talented couple included their version of the classic for the new Disney EP, Main Street Country , out now.

“It was definitely my doing,” Katelyn says of picking the song. She adds that it was her husband’s manager who reached out to her, and asked what song she would pick to do as a duet with Kane.

“Without a beat, I said, ‘Beauty and the Beast.'” she recalls. “And then I kind of just told Kane, ‘Okay, we’re going to do ‘Beauty and the Beast.'”

Both fans of Disney, the couple visit with their three children, six-year-old Kingsley, four-year-old Kodi, and 21-month-old Krewe, a couple of times a year.

Kane and Katelyn were able to record most of “Beauty and the Beast” in their home studio, surrounded by their daughters and son.

“Kane and I have a studio in our home,” Katelyn says. “So as we were recording this song, the kids are just coming in the room and listening. And then we had to go to another studio, where we got to hear the strings get put on the track. I brought the kids to that as well, and some of the players were letting our kids play on the harp, that sounds so beautiful in the song. They were really part of the whole experience.”

This isn’t the Browns’ first duet together.  In 2022, they had a massive hit with “Thank God.” Still, both Kane and Katelyn admit singing “Beauty and the Beast” was a challenge.

“It took me hours to get it right,” Kane tells People. “I was frustrated, to be honest. I’m not used to staying in the studio for hours and hours and hours to try and do harmonies and sing soft. I remember just leaving the studio and I went and sat on the front porch.”

“It was totally out of our element,” adds Katelyn. “[Kane] knew it was a big song with two totally different styles — and he wasn’t used to that. But from my background of singing, I was really used to that. So just hearing him in this different way was so beautiful.”

It might have been a challenge, but for Katelyn, there wasn’t another song she wanted to but “Beauty and the Beast.”

“I was really excited to do this one,” Katelyn says. “‘Beauty and the Beast’ is the most iconic, most beautiful Disney song. I just knew we had to do this one. Plus, this was definitely in my realm and my style of singing.”
