Reba McEntire and her longtime boyfriend, Rex Linn, have been engaged since the end of 2024, but a wedding date still has not been set, in part due to Linn’s successful career as an actor.
“They’re kind of being pushed every time Rex gets a job because he always says work comes first,” McEntire, who stars with Linn on Happy’s Place, tells Extra TV. “Heck, we might be engaged 30 years before we get married, but we’re okay with that, too.”
Still, when the couple does tie the knot, she has a good idea of what she wants their ceremony to be like.
“We’re going to have to have dogs there,” McEntire reveals. “I have two granddogs, Watson and Belle, so they may be the ring bearers or something like that. But we have to have our animals in there. We’ve got longhorns and donkeys, horses, and everything there at the place, cats. We have a lot of fun with them.”
Not a fancy affair, the Country Music Hall of Fame member says their wedding, to be held at her Tennessee ranch, will be “low-key,” with “lots of friends and family.”
McEntire and Linn waited a year to announce their engagement. But when discussing their nuptials soon after the news was announced, McEntire said the ceremony would be casual.
“A Reba/Rex wedding is going to be very different,” McEntire says on the Today Show. “It’s going to be low-key, lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food. Our big motto is have fun.”

What Reba McEntire Says About Being With Rex Linn
McEntire’s marriage to Linn will be his first, and her third. The singer was married to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987. In 1989, McEntire married Narvel Blackstock, who was also her manager at the time. The couple split in 2015. But now, McEntire is saving the best for last with Linn.
“I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn,” McEntire tells People. “Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He’s a good guy. Real bashful though.”
Living together and working together might be too much time together for some couples, but not for McEntire and Linn.
“Getting to work with Rex, drive to work with Rex and do the show, the rehearsals, drive home, talk about it, rehearse together — that’s what’s really special for me,” McEntire says. “I’ve not had that before.”
It’s understandable that Linn doesn’t want to plan a wedding when he has an acting job, since he pours everything he has into all of his roles.
“He is a workaholic, and he loves to rehearse,” McEntire says (via People). “Me, not so much on the rehearsal part, so he really makes sure that I know my lines, that I’m ready to go when we have a tape day. We have a blast. We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and then go home together.”
