lex Miller Honors His Mother With 'Just A Mom' From New Album [EXCLUSIVE]

Alex Miller’s More Country Than You album will be out on Friday, April 10. The record includes “Just A Mom,” which Miller is giving Everything Nash readers an exclusive first listen to, ahead of the release of the entire project.

“That’s a song that was sent to me by Wood Newton and Steve Williams,” Miller tells Everything Nash. “Those guys wrote the song, and it’s like they were reading my mail. That’s a song that’s basically my mom’s story. She works for R. J. Corman in Kentucky, and she was a single mom. My parents divorced when I was seven or eight years old. So that was hard on me as a kid, and hard on her, too. She got a job working for them, and she’s been with them about 20 years now.”

What Alex Miller Says About His ‘More Country Than You’ Album

More Country Than You is Miller’s sophomore record. The 10-track album follows his debut Miller Time, released in 2022, one year after Miller competed on American Idol.

More Country Than You is a project that I’m really excited about,” Miller says. “I think it captures everything about me as best as anything I’ve ever done. There are funny, upbeat things on there, and there are sad things. There are things that talk about me and my life. When it comes to a record, I don’t think you could ask for much more than that. It’s a really great way to get to know me.”

As for his enthusiasm about letting fans hear more music from him, the talented singer says he is as “excited as a lark in the dark.”

“I’m very excited,” Miller says. “I think the people are going to be really excited about some of the songs.”

All of Miller’s songs, including the ones on More Country Than You, lean towards the more traditional sounds of country music. For Miller, it’s less about trying to make a statement, and more about just celebrating the music that he loves.

“I feel like it’s just who I am,” Miller says. “It’s the music that I like. And it’s not even traditional country. It’s just Alex Miller music.”
