Ashley McBryde is being forced to cancel some shows, amid ongoing vocal troubles. Last week, McBryde asked for fans’ help, as she was not able to speak, per doctor’s orders. Apparently, McBryde is still struggling with her voice, revealing in an Instagram Story that she will not play this weekend, while she continues her recovery efforts.
“My voice has been struggling over the past few weeks, and as much as it pains me, I won’t be able to play my shows this week,” McBryde writes. “My doctors have made it crystal clear: my voice needs complete rest to heal. There’s nothing I want more than to be back giving you 100%. Thank you for understanding…I’ll see you soon.”
As of now, McBryde’s next concert is scheduled for August 22 in Tampa, Florida.
What Happened To Ashley McBryde’s Voice
McBryde shared a video last week, revealing the news that she was not allowed to talk.
“Doc says I’m working on busted up vocal cords,” McBryde captions the video. “The last thing I wanna do is cancel any meet greets or Heaven forbid SHOWS. So let’s try this for this week!”
In the video, McBryde holds up cards as a voice narrates for her.
“So no talking if I want to be able to sing to you,” the voice says. “This would be a good time to practice some ASL (American Sign Language).
“Say things like, ‘Hi! Nice to meet you.’ ‘Good to see you,’” the voice continues, with McBryde signing the messages. “That way, we don’t have to cancel meet and greets. Let’s try together.”

New Music From Ashley McBryde
McBryde recently released a new single, “Rattlesnake Preacher.” The song was written by Randall Clay, McBryde’s close friend who passed away in 2018.
“I’ve written nearly every song on all my records, so when I cut one I didn’t write, it means something,” says McBryde. “Randall was part of a group of songwriters that helped me write some of the most formative songs of my career, and his songs will always find a home with me to continue his legacy.”
McBryde has been performing “Rattlesnake Preacher” during her concerts for years, finally releasing the song due to fan demand.
“Rattlesnake Preacher’ has been a staple in our live show since the bar days, and we’ve constantly been asked by fans when it’ll make it onto a record,” explains the singer. “As we were gearing up for my second year of co-hosting CMA Fest, it felt like the perfect time to finally get this one out there. It’s my way of saying thank you to the fans who have shown up, listened and gave this song life long before it was ever recorded.”
Ashley McBryde’s New Bar
McBryde is opening a new bar inside Eric Church‘s Chief’s. Sober since 2022, the new space will have options for those who want to enjoy a night out, without the pressure to imbibe.
“As someone who is three years sober, the typical response to ‘Do you have anything non-alcoholic?’ is either ‘Why did you come to a bar if you aren’t gonna drink?’ or ‘You can have soda water and a lime, I guess,’” McBryde says. “Some of my favorite places to socialize became wildly unaccommodating when the only thing that changed was what was in my cup.
“It was vital that I create a space where not drinking is the forethought – normalized,” she adds. “You can get alcohol drinks in Redemption too, because everyone is welcome.”
McBryde will play two shows in October, on October 14 and 15, and two shows in Decmeber, on December 11 and 12, as part of her Redemption residency. Find “Rattlesnake Preacher” and all of McBryde’s music and upcoming shows at AshleyMcBryde.com.
