Ashley McBryde Reveals 'Busted Up Vocal Cords,' Asks Fans For Help

Ashley McBryde is sharing some disappointing news with her fans. In a video posted on social media, McBryde reveals she is being forced to rest her voice, while she tries to repair some damaged vocal cords.

“Doc says I’m working on busted up vocal cords,” McBryde captions the video. “The last thing I wanna do is cancel any meet greets or Heaven forbid SHOWS. So let’s try this for this week!”

Unable to speak, the “Girl Going Nowhere” singer holds up notes to speak with her fans, as a voice that is not McBryde’s narrates.

“So no talking if I want to be able to sing to you,” the voice says. “This would be a good time to practice some ASL (American Sign Language).

“Say things like, ‘Hi! Nice to meet you.’ ‘Good to see you,'” the voice continues, with McBryde signing the messages. “That way, we don’t have to cancel meet and greets. Let’s try together.”

Ashley McBryde’s New Bar

The disappointing news comes at an otherwise exciting time for McBryde. She just announced the opening of her Redemption Bar, located inside Eric Church‘s Chief’s. Sober since 2022, the new space will offer zero-proof cocktails, inspired by “McBryde’s personal path to sobriety and designed as a welcoming space that honors authenticity, connection, and original songwriting,” per a press release.

“When the opportunity to make my mark on Broadway came, I knew I wanted to create a space that champions what’s made a difference in my life; a space that lifts up the brushed aside, and makes sure everyone feels welcome,” McBryde says.

Redemption Bar is scheduled to be opened on August 28.

Ashley McBryde’s Nashville Residency

In addition to news of McBryde’s Redemption Bar, McBryde recently announced a four-show residency at Redemption Bar, a place that will especially honor Nashville songwriters.

“The guys and I are so happy to be back in Nashville for four nights of ‘you had to be there’ moments to help close out this year,” the Arkansas native says. “We’ve been making our kind of church wherever we go for years; from dive bars to back porches, Dahlonega to Lindeville. It’s something special to bring it all to the only Steeple on Lower Broadway.”

Ashley McBryde’s Redemption Residency Dates

McBryde will play two shows in October, on October 14 and 15, and two shows in Decmeber, on December 11 and 12.
