A new song is out by Brandon Davis. The father of six just released “Showed Up,” a song with a powerful message, especially for single parents.
“Show up,” Davis said when dropping the song. “That’s the first step. ‘Cause as a single parent, or a bonus parent, what truly matters most to your kids are the memories you make, and you being there for each and every one of them.”
Ahead of the release, Davis’s wife, Destiny, opened up about the message of “Showed Up.” The song is based partly on their story, since Destiny was a single mom when they first met.
“In a way, it’s our story,” Destiny said. “But also, it’s about healing, and experiencing being a child that has a single parent. Or being a single parent, and feeling like you’re not good enough. And still being the bigger person in the end.”
“No matter what, people aren’t there for you sometimes,” she continued. “And as much as that sucks and as hard as that is, we still are there for those people. … I know that as a single mom, the No. 1 thing that you do is doubt yourself, and if you’re doing a good job. You just need a reminder that showing up is enough. And so this song is super special.”
What Brandon Davis Says About “Showed Up”
After “Showed Up” was released, Davis shared his thoughts on his powerful new single.
“If you’re looking for a song with a good story,” Davis said. “If you’re looking for a song that talks about the life that is revolving around single mothers, or bonus parents, or kids that are struggling to kind of figure out how that world fits with them, this is a song that I promise you is going to answer so many questions to stories that just don’t get told in country music as often as they probably should. We’re just honored to get to be a part of telling stories like this.”
“Showing up is the best part of being a parent, because there is so much you can miss if you don’t show up,” he added.
In a separate video, the singer-songwriter praises Destiny for how well she did as a single parent before meeting her now husband.
“Before the Davis family was truly the Davis family, my wife was a single mother. She was struggling day in and day out, trying her best to give Brantley and Maleah the best possible life that she could,” Davis shared. “When I stepped in the role of a bonus parent, I saw this strong, independent, driven woman, who was accomplishing feats and overcoming trials that I couldn’t even comprehend. And there are so many other single mothers out there, bonus parents stepping into roles they didn’t expect. And this song is about highlighting those people.”

Brandon Davis and Destiny Welcome Twins
In April, Davis and Destiny welcomed twin girls, Remi Kate and Rori Beck.
“God is so good and we are feeling so beyond blessed!” the couple told People, shortly after the twins’ arrival. “The journey to this day has been a long one unlike anything we’ve ever experienced before, with IVF and a miscarriage along the way. We had honestly reached a point where we weren’t sure if this day would ever come.”
“God truly sent the final two pieces of our heart with these beautiful baby girls,” they continue.”Their older siblings are over the moon with their new baby sisters and have been the best helpers!”
Remi and Rori join big siblings Maleah, Brantley, Granger, and Easton. Find “Showed Up,” and all of Davis’ music and tour dates at BrandonDavisMusic.com.
