Carly Pearce has a vulnerable and honest new song, out now. The Kentucky native just released “Dream Come True,” the first single from her next album. Pearce wrote “Dream Come True” with Lauren Hungate, Tofer Brown, and Emily Weisband.
“Dream Come True” says, “But nobody loves you for you / Nobody calls you if you lose your shine / Nobody tells you everything you’re gonna lose / Trying to make the dream come true.” The song comes from some of Pearce’s own struggles.
“It’s been a long journey over the last couple of years for me, mentally, ” Pearce explains, in a video shared on social media. “Being somebody who has always just based their career on music, it has felt really hard to know how to release music. How to deal with the pressures of, do I have enough followers? Are people engaging? Do people care? Am I gonna go viral? Do I matter? Am I enough?
“And it has sent me to some hard places, where I’ve had to really ask myself, why am I doing this?” she continues. “Why do I love music? What was the dream in the first place? And that’s what this song is about. This song is my redirection to reconnect with why I wanted to do this in the first place.”

Carly Pearce Opens Up About Her Own Struggles
Pearce admits that it’s hard for artists to know how to release music. But for her, especially with “Dream Come True,” she is choosing to follow her heart.
“I don’t know if I’m gonna have tons of views. I don’t know how to go viral. I don’t know some days how to really make myself know that I’m enough, in all things. But what I hope for with this song, and what I hope for with these next many, many songs that I’m going to be bringing you, is that you know at the core, I love music, and I love writing country music. That’s what I know, and that’s what I’m going to focus on.
“And I hope you love it,” she adds. “And if you’re feeling like you don’t know how to do all of this, you’re not alone. And we’re more than enough.”
The Story Behind Carly Pearce’s “Dream Come True”
Carly Pearce admits she was in a rough spot when she and her fellow writers wrote what became “Dream Come True.”
“I went in to write this particular day, and was just feeling really defeated, if I’m being honest,” Pearce reveals on SiriusXM‘s The Highway. “I felt just in a lull in my career. And I think that when you’ve been in this, when you pursue a dream like so many people do, whether you’re a singer or not, if you have a dream and you chase it, it comes with a price, and there are sacrifices that happen. And I was just feeling that deeply that day, and wanted to be honest and didn’t want to live in the world where we all try to just show the highlight reel.”
Pearce goes on to say that it wasn’t that she wasn’t grateful, but rather that she was feeling the weight of all of the decision that led her to her current crossroads of sorts.
“[I was] feeling like, do people care?” Pearce recalls. “Can I go viral, or did I miss out on a family? And all of these different things. And so, line by line, this song is my real story. I live in a cul-de-sac with a four-bedroom house. I have had to miss countless friends’ weddings. I am grateful, but it is hard to be in the public eye. And it’s hard to feel like a lot of your success has been wrapped up in real-life experiences that maybe weren’t that great.”
