Chris Young just shared a new clip of him performing his latest single, “‘Til the Last One Dies.” Young shares the clip on social media, as the song, from his latest I Didn’t Come Here To Leave album, is in the Top 30.
Young captions the video by saying, “Thanks for continuing to love this song as much as I do.”
“‘Til the Last One Dies” is one of the three songs on I Didn’t Come Here To Leave that Young did not write. The song is instead written by Ben Hayslip, Seth Mosley, and Jordan Walker.

The Story Behind Chris Young’s “‘Til the Last One Dies”
Young knew as soon as he heard “‘Til the Last One Dies” that he not only wanted to record it, but wanted to release it as a single as well.
“I had a friend pitch me the song,” Young tells iHeart. “This is one of the few that’s on the record that I was not a co-writer on, but got a chance to sing it and produce it with my buddy, Andy [Sheridan]. I think if I was going to say why I was drawn to this song, not only is it a very new way to say ‘I love you’ to somebody in song form. My favorite line is the line leading up to the hook, saying that he bought ‘A dozen roses …11 real ones, one fake one, and I’ll love you ’til the last one dies.’”
The Tennessee native has written a lot of his songs, but not all of them. For Young, he is far more concerned with recording good songs, than whether or not he wrote them.
“I’ve had songs before that have been singles that I wasn’t a writer on,” Young tells Country 102.5. “I obviously sang and produced this one. But I found it. Someone played it for me right after these guys wrote it, and I was just like, ‘Oh God. That’s really, really good. I gotta cut that.”
What Chris Young Has Learned Since Winning ‘Nashville Star’ in 2006
Young has spent almost 20 years as part of country music, ever since winning Nashville Star in 2006. With a lot of highs and lows, the 40-year-old is grateful for all he has learned, even through the hard times.
“You can fail and still come back from it,” Young says on the Takin’ a Walk podcast. “I get that everybody knows nobody’s perfect. But I remember the very first time after I’d finally started having No. 1s, and just any hit of any kind. I had five in a row, and then the sixth song didn’t work. We didn’t even make a video for it. There was a period where I had a No. 1, and then the next song only went to 23. And it was just sort of like. ‘Okay, where am I in the landscape of music? Did I pick the wrong songs? Do I need to change up my team? Do I need to change up something about me?’”
Young recalls when he went from having a string of chart-topping singles to not having a hit. The time ultimately taught Young a powerful lesson, even though that season was challenging for him.
“Even if you think like, ‘Man, that last one didn’t work,’ try, try again,” Young says. “It sucks to have heard that all of your life. Everybody always says it to you. And you have that in your brain, and you know that it’s just a saying that everybody uses. But that’s why it sticks around as a saying. You never know.”
