Chris Young Teases New Song, 'Some Around Here,' From Upcoming Album [WATCH]

Chris Young is excited about his forthcoming new album. The Tennessee native shares a clip of a new song on social media, one that he reveals has a Matthew McConaughey reference.

“Sorry, not sorry,” Young captions the clip of the uptempo, feel-good track.

The new song comes as Young is putting the finishing touches on his new album. The record includes his current single, “‘Til The Last One Dies,” his first release on Black River Entertainment.

“I just thought the message on this one was so perfect,” Young tells Audacy. “I went to every single one of my friends, male, female, whatever, that were married or in a relationship, and they were all just blown away by this song, so I was like, ‘Okay, we gotta go with this one first. It’s just too perfect.'”

Young hasn’t shared many details of his next record, at least not yet. But he does reveal that he wrote some, but not all, of the songs on his next project.

“It’s not the only one that’s going to be on the project that I wasn’t a writer on,” Young tells Country 102.5. “I’ve had songs before that have been singles that I wasn’t a writer on. I obviously sang and produced this one. But I found it. Someone played it for me right after these guys wrote it, and I was just like, ‘Oh God. That’s really, really good. I gotta cut that.”

“‘Til The Last One Dies” was the most-added at country radio the week it was released. It also had the most first-week adds Young has had of any single in his career. It’s just a taste of what fans can expect from Young’s next record, one he can’t wait to share with his fans.

“There are still a couple more that I’m going to track,” Young says. “But we’ve already got the days set in stone and I’ve got a pretty good idea of the last several that are going on there with the ones that I’ve already cut, mixed and mastered. We’re in a good position.”

Young’s next record will be his ninth, not counting his 2016 It Must Be Christmas project. But the 39-year-old has a new excitement for his next set of tunes, now that he is on a new label home.

“I had the chance to be a free agent. I felt sort of like an athlete a little bit,” Young reflects to Billboard. “I was prepared to take all these [label] meetings, and I went in and [Black River Records] were the first meeting. By the end of that meeting, I told them, ‘I want to be here.’”

“[Black River] had done their research and they were like, ‘We want you to be part of this group,'” he continues. “‘We’re ready to go to work immediately.’ And I gave them a Dropbox with 20 songs in it,”
