Cody Johnson is canceling the remaining dates on his 2025 Leather Deluxe Tour, instead undergoing immediate surgery. The Texan, who recently canceled some shows due to illness, reveals that he has been battling a sickness for some time, which has caused potentially devastating consequences.
“It is with a very heavy heart I have to share the remainder of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen,” Johnson says. “While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my eardrum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery. The healing process will take many weeks, and it is not possible for me to sing during this time.
“Without the surgery my downtime could be months,” he adds. “I pray for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love. Thank you COJO Nation for the love and support now, and always.”

Cody Johnson’s Current Single, “The Fall”
Johnson has a Top 35 single with “The Fall,” a song from his Leather Deluxe Edition album. Written by Bobby Pinson, Ray Fulcher and Jeremy Stover, “The Fall” is the follow-up to his No. 1 hit, “I’m Gonna Love You,” with Carrie Underwood.
“’The Fall’ is one of those songs that I feel like should be on a movie soundtrack,” Johnson says. “It should be on a movie soundtrack because it paints that picture of — you can see the struggle to get to the success. And I think for me, I picture guys like Michael Jordan. You see all the work and all the tired and the angry and the tears and the blood, and you get to the successful moment. And you can even apply that to relationships too, but it has that that overall movie quality about it.”
Cody Johnson’s 4 CMA Awards Nominations
Johnson will hopefully be well enough to attend the upcoming 2025 CMA Awards, since he is nominated for four trophies. Johnson is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, and Music Video of the Year, the latter two for “I’m Gonna Love You” with Underwood.
“What a great honor it is to be recognized for simply loving country music so much,” Johnson says. “I’m grateful for the liberty I have in this business to create the music I want to make. And grateful to the fans who have stood by me for many years to get us to this point. I’m having the time of my life!”
