Cole Swindell Teases New Song, 'Make Heaven Crowded,' Inspired by Charlie Kirk's Widow

Cole Swindell is sharing a clip of a bold new song, “Make Heaven Crowded.” The song is seemingly inspired by the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and something Kirk’s wife said after his sudden death.

In the clip of the song that Swindell shares, it begins with Erika saying, “Charlie, you are alongside Jesus right now, doing what you always wanted to do. Making heaven crowded, right? That’s what it’s all about.”

Swindell then shares a clip of the song, which he says he is trying to get released as soon as possible.

I’ve blamed my sinning on I ain’t no saint / I’ve bit my tongue said that it ain’t my place,” Swindell sings. “And I’ve kept Jesus in the backseat /  But I can’t any longer/ After what we all saw last week/ I can’t help but wonder/ What if churches had a longer line outside than all them bars on Friday night / What if people prayed for people who ain’t on their side / What if good ran off the bad / Them streets of gold up there’d be packed / This whole world would look a lot better than we found it / If we make Heaven crowded.”

Cole Swindell’s Current Single, “We Can Always Move On”

Swindell’s current single, “We Can Always Move On,” is from his latest Spanish Moss album, released earlier this year. The song follows Swindel’s 13th No. 1 hit with “Forever to Me,” which he wrote about his wife, Courtney. It’s Courtney, whom he wed in 2024, who now helps Swindell decide which songs to release.

“She likes country music, but she likes all kinds of music,” Swindell explains. “And I think she’s a little more in the loop of what’s cool than I am these days. So, I think just having her listening to songs, what songs stand out to her. I mean, obviously, I’m a huge lyric guy, but I also know some songs don’t have to be world-changing. They can just feel good and sound good. And I think some of the songs, like ‘We Can Always Move On,’ for example, that caught her ear from the first second. … I think she helps when it comes to the songs, and just something to run by for another opinion at least.”

“We Can Always Move On” is one of 21 songs on Spanish Moss, his first record since Stereotype came out in 2022. In the three years between projects, Swindell got married and found out he was going to be a father, life changes that are clearly evident on his new set of tunes.

“I’m glad I had kind of a break away from things, to enjoy that time together,” Swindell tells Billboard.

“We ended up with so many songs that we love,” he adds. “And so, we decided to put all of them on here.”
