Ella Langley’s New Single, “Choosin’ Texas”

Langley just released a new single, “Choosin’ Texas.” The song, from a forthcoming new album, became the most-added single of her career when it was released. “Choosin’ Texas” is written by Langley, along with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor.

During one of Langley’s recent shows, she opened up about writing with Lambert, one of her musical heroes.

“It was a year ago this month I got my first opportunity to write with her,” Langley said (via Country Rebel). “We were on one of these things called a writer’s retreat, where you take a couple of your favorite people and you just sit down for however many days and write songs. And hopefully some of them are good.”

The inspiration for “Choosin’ Texas” came during an unlikely time, Langley remembers.

“I was walking to the bathroom and I started to go, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way he’s two-steppin’ around the room,'” Langley recalls. “And Miranda was walking behind me to the bathroom, a separate one, and she was like, ‘Wait a minute! The [girl] he went with, she’s from Texas, I can tell.’ The girl he went with, you know?

“And from there, I think the song fell out in about 30 minutes, and it’s one of my favorite ones we got off the retreat that weekend,” she adds. “And it’s my first song with Miss Miranda Lambert coming out.”

Ella Langley and Riley Green’s Current Top 10 Single

Langley has another hit single at radio, this one a duet with Riley Green. “Don’t Mind If I Do” is the title track of Green’s latest album. The song, which Green wrote by himself, is already in the Top 10. Langley and Green already have an award-winning, No. 1 single with “You Look Like You Love Me,” which is why Green didn’t first plan on having Langley sing on the song. But after hearing her vocals on it, for the song’s demo, he knew she was the perfect one for the song.

“I didn’t plan on her being on that song,” Green says on Apple Music Country‘s Kelleigh Bannen. “I wrote it as a duet, but I had her come by the studio to put a female vocal on it just to hear it so I could potentially pitch it around, and she just crushed it. It sounded so great. We are from very similar areas in Alabama, and I think we grew up listening to the same kind of music. So maybe that’s why our voices go so well together, and we’ve got the same kind of twang.

“Even having those two duets wasn’t a planned thing,” he adds. “It just kind of happened. I’m happy for her success, and it’s fun having her on the road to do those two songs and have those two hits with her.”
