Jelly Roll Gives Passionate Speech to The Tennessee Titans [WATCH]

Jelly Roll just gave a powerful speech to the Tennessee Titans. The Nashville native visited the football team to offer a word of encouragement ahead of the upcoming season.

“I grew up right here in Nashville, Tennessee,” Jelly Roll says after introducing himself. “I’m super proud of that. When I grew up here, it was like 300,000 people in this town. Now it’s like 2.3 million. Last year, I came and spoke at the beginning of the season about how much the Titans have done for us locally. And I just want to go over that one more time, for those of you that are new. This city needs help. It always has. The biggest acquisition we ever made was the Tennessee Titans. It was the first time our city felt like a city. We were a town before the Titans came. We do a lot of stuff with juvenilles, a lot of stuff with the homeless shelters. We do a lot of stuff in the local drug rehab.”

Jelly Roll goes on to invite any of the players to join him in visiting any of those places, before sharing he really wanted to talk to the team about “road life.” Jelly Roll reveals he spends an average of 300 days of the year away from home, which is why it’s a subject he is passionate about.

“That’s where the magic was for us,” the singer says. “What was happening on that road between me and the boys, started translating to the stage. And all that connection we were looking for on that stage that we could never find, ’cause we were only trying to find it in that hour. We thought we were going to connect for the 60 to 90 minutes, and we were going to change the world every night in the local bar. And then we learned it was the 23 hours we weren’t on stage where we built our connection.”

The 40-year-old encourages the players to find a friend and find community, which will only help them during their games.

“That stuff will translate to the field,” Jelly Roll vows. “That’s something else I learned. I started becoming a better songwriter when I started becoming a better husband. I started becoming a better performer when I started becoming a better human. I started becoming a better son. I started prioritizing my momma’s calls. It’s funny how the heavens started opening up for me, just ’cause of how I was treating relationships everywhere else.”

Jelly Roll concludes his speech by encouraging the Tennessee Titans to “build something” while on the road.

“Every time you get on that road, bring it home,” he encourages. “Think about the relationships outside of here. It’s funny how just being a good husband will change your entire day on the field.”

The Titans will play their first preseason game on Saturday, August 9, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their first regular game is on September 7 against the Denver Broncos.
