Jelly Roll Talks 3 Grammy Nominations: 'All I See is God'

Jelly Roll has three Grammy Awards nominations. The singer, who has already been nominated twice in 2023 and twice in 2024, is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” with Brandon Lake, Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Amen,” with Shaboozey.

The singer, sporting a new, clean-shaven look, recalls hearing about the Grammy Awards nominations while he was recently touring in Australia.

“When I made it to my first Grammy, the year I had New Artist, I thought to myself, ‘This is the only time I’ll ever be in the Grammys.’ And to be coming back three years later with more nominations than I’ve ever had, first of all, the gratitude. And I don’t care what artists say, I don’t care what artists act like, I’m gonna tell you the real truth: there’s not an artist in the world that didn’t grow up watching the Grammys when they were a kid, and walking to their bedrooms afterwards and rehearse their speech.

“God will take something that’s normal and make it extremely abnormal, or He will take something that’s already incredible, and make it absolutely mesmerizing, and that’s the case here,” he continues. “Not only did God bring me back here in the best headspace, I can think and write about it, but He brought me here with the right kind of message. When I look at these nominations, all I see is God.”

Jelly Roll Talks About His Nomination for ‘Beautifully Broken’

Jelly Roll got emotional when he talked about being nominated for Best Contemporary Country Album, for Beautifully Broken.

“It’s not even about the album,” he says in tears. “It’s about the name. … I see all my friends in this category. But then I see standing there is this album called ‘Beautifully Broken.’ And man, if that doesn’t represent what’s happening in the world right now, I think more than ever, is I think we can find beauty in what’s happening.”

Jelly Roll’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah” Collaboration With Brandon Lake

Jelly Roll recently won three Dove Awards for “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Lake. The song, already a No. 1 hit at Christian radio, is currently in the Top 35 on the country charts.

Not surprisingly, Jelly Roll gave a heartfelt speech after winning the Dove Award for “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Lake.

Y’all forgive me,” Jelly Roll began after winning the Dove Award for Song of the Year. “I’m not even sure how much I belong speaking up here right now. And I’m nervous. I ain’t been this nervous since I went to criminal court, y’all. This is a real thing for me….I was listening to [Lake] and I was thinking about Matthew, when he talks about ‘the least,’ when he said, ‘When I was hungry, you fed me. When I was thirsty, you gave me water. When I was in jail, you came and visited me. And I realized that I am standing here because people took the time with the least.

“I want to give this message as clear as I can right now: the world is hearing about Jesus like they haven’t in decades right now,” he continued. “There is a revival happening in the United States of America, where you can’t go on a corner and not hear about Jesus right now. And while we are hearing about Jesus, I encourage you to put faith on your feet, and feet on your faith, and walk out of this building and go do for the least. They’ve heard of Jesus, now go show them Jesus. Go feed the poor. Go visit the ones in jail. Go show them who Jesus was. We are done talking. It’s time to show.”
