Kane Brown is heading to the big screen. The father of three will make his acting debut in an upcoming movie, The Token Groomsman, starring Taylor Lautner.
Per Deadline, the movie is about a career-focused man named Scott (played by Lautner), who has hit “rock bottom” at work, when he is invited to be a groosman at a fancy destination wedding in Italy, except he has no recollection of the groom. Lured by the idea of making new business connections, Scott travels to the wedding, when sparks start to fly between him and the groom’s sister, Mia.
Brown portrays Neil, Scott’s best friend and “moral compass.” According to director Natalie Simpkins, Brown is the perfect choice for the supporting role.
“We knew we needed bold, lovable personalities to match the heart and humor of this story,” Simpkins says. “Kane brings something so unique. He has a rare mix of vulnerability and magnetism that’s incredibly compelling.”
This is Brown’s first movie role, but not his first job as an actor. He previously appeared in CBS‘s Fire Country in 2023. At the time, Brown said his dream of being an actor preceded his desire to be a country music singer.
“It’s weird because I never really knew that I wanted to do music,” Brown tells The Hollywood Reporter. “And acting was like, ‘It would be cool.’ I used to go for those little things you could sign up for online — the castings for extras. I tried to do those a couple times, and I never got picked. They just go off looks and stuff and I never made it.”

“I’ve been wanting to do acting longer than music,” the father of three adds.
After Brown’s guest role on Fire Country, he said he was already looking forward to his next opportunity.
“It felt good,” he said at the time. “I wish I could go back and do it again. So at least in my next role, if I get one, I’ll be a little bit more experienced. And that’s what everything is — music, acting, whatever — the more experience, the better you get.”
Brown has more to work on than a movie this year. In addition to his current The High Road Tour, Brown is also working on a new album. His latest album, The High Road, came out in January.
“We’re trying to put another one out this year,” Brown hints to Audacy. “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but we’re trying.”
“I just want to put a new album out,” he continues. “I feel like I’ve just been chilling, so I’m ready to go. I’m getting hungry again.”
Brown has a Top 10 hit with “Backseat Driver.” The song, from The High Road, follows Brown’s two recent thit single from the record, with “I Can Feel It” and “Miles On It.”
