Keith Urban Drops 20-Song Live Album, 'High And A(Live)'

Surprise! Keith Urban‘s full-length, live album is out. Urban just released High And A(Live), with songs recorded from his latest High And Alive World Tour.

“Playing live is what I live to do,” Urban says. “Looking out from a stage and seeing people singing, forgetting about all the stress in their lives, cutting loose, and feeling ALIVE – that’s what it’s about for me.”

High And A(Live) includes live versions of some of Urban’s biggest hits, including “Long Hot Summer,” “Days Go By,” “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” and more. He also just released a cover of “You Get What You Give,” by the pop band, The Radicals.

What Keith Urban Has Said About His Live Album

Urban has been hinting about releasing a live album since embarking on his High And Alive World Tour. In October, he dropped a deluxe version of his latest album, HIGH, with six new songs.

“We have a live album coming out sometime this year,” Urban revealed on Country Countdown USA. “I’ve never done one. It’s kind of crazy. We felt on this tour, it was feeling musically special, the crowd energy was really special, so let’s start capturing some of these and see if we can do an album.”

The live album isn’t the only record Urban is working on. In September, Urban said he was working on two new records.

“I’ve been writing quite a bit,” he says. “I’ve been recording quite a bit. I’m looking forward to getting back into the studio. That’s what I do.  I don’t have hobbies. I love music. That’s what I do.”

Keith Urban on ‘The Road”

Earlier this year, Urban juggled making new music with taping The Road, a reality TV talent show he stars in on CBS, alongside Blake Shelton and Gretchen Wilson. The show, airing now, will conclude on December 21.

On The Road, the contestants try to win over Urban’s audience in venues all over the country, as they serve as his opening act.

“It’s a concept that Blake was one of the people behind it,” Urban says (via Coyote Country). “I loved the idea, and I loved that Taylor Sheridan was going to be involved in it, just from a visual standpoint and the style of the show. The concept of putting artists in a real-world environment versus a TV studio was really appealing to me, because I had not seen that before where there’s no vocal coach backstage, there’s no A & R’ing of their songs. They have to choose a cover, and they have to choose an original, and they’ve got to go out and make that work in front of an audience that isn’t there to see them.”
