Keith Urban resurrected one of his former hits, joined by one of his new band members, while performing at Ole Red in Nashville as part of CMA Fest. The two sang “The Fighter,” a song Urban originally released the song in 2017 with Carrie Underwood, as part of his Ripcord record.
Stovall has been part of Runaway June since 2020. She recently announced that she was joining Urban on his High and Alive World Tour, as much as her schedule will allow.
“A couple weeks ago I got a text that I never could have seen coming,” Stovall reveals on social media. “I got the invite to play and sing in the band alongside one of my Mt. Rushmore artists. Keith. Flippin’. Urban!!! So in addition to all of our Runaway June shows, I will be on stage with Keith and the guys at every show I can squeeze in!
“The first time I saw Keith play, he was the opener on a radio show with Jamie O’Neal and Lonestar,” she continues. “I was blown away by his passion on stage, and I had NEVER seen anyone play their instrument like that. I can’t wait to stand on his right every night and absorb all I can from one of the greatest to ever do it. Don’t worry, I’ll sleep next year! See y’all out there!!!”

Stovall isn’t the only new band member Urban has with him on his High and Alive World Tour. Urban let some of his band members go earlier this year, replacing them with new members. While the news surprised fans, Urban is thrilled with his new lineup.
“It’s mostly a pretty new band now,” Urban tells Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Urban relied on his connections in the music industry to put the new band together.
“It was people through people through people, recommend a couple of people,” Urban shares. “I like people just sending videos, because then you can sit and watch it and get a pretty good idea of the way someone plays, and the way they are as a person.”
While the band members Urban fired were talented, the 57-year-old says it was simply time for a change.
“I’ve always just followed the inner voice that says it’s time to make a change, in any area of my life, and sort of just leap. Just take the leap,” Urban shared with Everything Nash and other outlets, during a recent media event. “I don’t always know where I’m going. It’s a little bit like playing live on stage. I don’t always know what I’m going to do next. There’s something exhilarating about living that way, and about performing that way.”
