Keith Urban Recalls His Favorite Childhood Christmas Memories

Keith Urban loved everything about Christmas as a child. Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, the father of two reveals what the holidays were like for him growing up.

“I have great memories of getting up early and going and jumping on your parents’ bed and getting them up,” Urban recalls. “And then of course, you tear open the presents, and then it’s done. And it’s like 8:00 in the morning, and you’ve got all morning now to sort of wish you had more presents to open. We had great Christmases growing up. I really, really enjoyed them. Mostly, we’d go to the beach, ’cause there it’s summertime. Load up the station wagon and head off to the beach.”

Urban can now afford to buy whatever he wants. But he still remembers his favorite gift of all time, when he was just a little boy.

“I got a yellow Tonka truck when I was about six, I think, and it’s probably still my favorite Christmas gift ever,” the 58-year-old shares. “Those things last forever, too.”

Keith Urban Releases New ‘High And A(Live)’ Album

Urban recently surprised fans by releasing a 20-track live album, High And A(Live). Recorded during his recent High And Alive Tour, the project was created to give fans a way to relive the magic of him performing his live shows.

“When I think about touring, I just think about the two hours on stage,” Urban shares. “Everything else is whatever it is, but that two hours on stage, every minute that we’re on stage is why everybody’s even out there. It’s why everyone’s backstage. It’s why there are trucks everywhere. That’s why there are guys up in the air rigging. That’s why there are caterers. That’s why there are just people parking cars. That’s why every single person is doing what they’re doing is just for that two hours that I’m on stage. And so, I’m only ever thinking about that being the best it can be every single night.”

Urban recently revealed he is also  working on another record, which will likely be released in 2026.
