Keith Urban Takes His High And Alive World Tour Overseas

Keith Urban is taking his High and Alive World Tour, overseas. The New Zealand native is kicking off the international dates with three back-to-back shows in Brisbane, Australia, followed by stops in Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. He will then head to Canada for seven more shows, before returning stateside, wrapping up his tour on October 17 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Urban was born in New Zealand, but grew up in Australia. For him, nothing is better than returning home to perform his hits.

“I grew up there, playing in all the pubs and clubs, so it definitely brings a different kind of energy,” says the singer.

Regardless of whether Urban is playing in the United States or somewhere else, his goal remains the same: to give fans a night they will never forget.

“For me, playing live is all about the moment,” Urban says. “I strive to get my audiences loose and relaxed for two hours – no matter where they are.”

Keith Urban’s Goal On His High and Alive World Tour

Urban keeps his fans at the forefront of his mind with every aspect of his career, including touring. It’s why the father of two makes sure each night he performs, he gives them an unforgettable evening.

“First of all, without the audience, it’s just one long sound check,” Urban says. “So the audience is everything, everything … I’ve watched our audience night after night after night just give so much to me on stage. And when that happens, you can just play forever. If we didn’t have curfews, we’d play way longer.”

“The other thing that I really am aware of, especially having kids, when you want to go to a concert, it’s a big deal,” he continues. “It’s not like going to the movies. It’s a very different thing. You know, parking and babysitters and the like – are we going to carpool? And tickets at will call. We have to get there two hours [early] to line up. And it’s a big, big deal. And then parking, all the expenses, it goes through the roof. So my want is to give them the greatest night and give everything I’ve got,  to not take that for granted.”

Keith Urban’s Next Album

Urban’s HIGH album came out last September, but he is already working on a new record. The 57-year-old recently released a live version of “Long Hot Summer,” the first release from a forthcoming live album.

“If you’ve seen us on tour, you already know the guitar solo’s really putting the ‘long’ in ‘Long Hot Summer,” Urban said when the new live version was released. “Thank you in advance for entertaining a nearly 7-minute version of a 4:33 song!”
