Kenny Chesney Puts Finishing Touches On 'Heart Life Music'

Kenny Chesney is opening up about his HEART*LIFE*MUSIC book, out on November 4.  Chesney reveals the book is, finally, completely finished, and ready to be shared with the world.

“What they don’t tell you is how much goes into polishing, how many times you’ll read it… or how many moments you’ll have to leave out,” Chesney says. “But for me, I really wanted to send a love letter to all the places and characters along the way that made this journey such an incredible ride. When I look back, I can’t believe the people I’ve met, the stories I’ve heard, and the music I’ve been able to hear from songwriters, other artists, as well as all the songs I’ve been fortunate enough to cut.”

Chesney shares glimpses of his journey on his No Shoes Radio station (Channel 59), on SiriusXM radio.

“And now, finally, my co-writer Holly Gleason and I can exhale – knowing the book truly is done, we grabbed the moment for No Shoes Radio,” Chesney reveals. “For anyone who sees HEART*LIFE*MUSIC sitting somewhere, not only is it a whole lot of love, adventure and things I loved thinking about all over again, it’s a huge chunk of my last year. So if you were wondering, now you know.”

Why Kenny Chesney Wrote HEART*LIFE*MUSIC

The East Tennessee native penned HEART*LIFE*MUSIC as a way to honor his journey, going from moving to Music City as just another aspiring singer-songwriter, to becoming a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and everything in between.

“We were trying to create snapshots of my journey, vignettes of my soul, and lots of my friends since I started on this magic carpet ride,” Chesney says. “I moved to Nashville in January 1991, and here we are, talking about it in this book. Sitting here looking at the ocean, hearing these waves crashing, we can’t wait. Especially if you’ve been part of this journey, I can’t wait for you to relive it…and for those who weren’t part of this journey, we hope you take something from this and apply it to your life. We can’t wait for you to hear it, errr, read it.”

Earlier this year, Chesney expounded on his reasons for penning HEART*LIFE*MUSIC.

“People have asked me a lot why I haven’t written a book yet, and honestly, why now,” Chesney shares on TalkShopLive. “And I guess my answer to that is, it’s a pretty incredible story really. If I think about the kid that grew up in East Tennessee, I lived way out in the country. I used to go out and lay in my grandmother’s backyard. We lived so far out of Knoxville that you could look up at the stars at night and you wouldn’t see any light pollution from any city anywhere. So, it was just beautiful, and I used to go out there as a kid and lay there.”

Kenny Chesney’s Induction Into The Country Music Hall of Fame

Chesney will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in October, as part of a class that also includes June Carter Cash and Tony Brown. For Chesney, it’s his biggest dream coming true.

“I had a really big dream and I’m still pushing that dream as far as I can,” Chesney says. “I just wanted to record and write songs that reflected the lives of a lot of people that came to our shows, and I just wanted to spread as much positive energy and love as I possibly could …I know it’s not a dream. It’s real and it feels surreal.”
