Kenny Chesney hopes people look at him and see that dreams can come true. In a recent appearance on TalkShopLive, speaking about his HEART*LIFE*MUSIC book, Chesney shares how his life and career prove that dreams can be achieved, for someone who is willing to put in the work.
“When I was growing up, lying on the ground in my grandmother’s backyard, I couldn’t have been further away from this moment,” he says in a clip shared on social media. “And so, if you’re out there, and you’re lying in your backyard, staring up at the stars in the sky, with a dream, I’m telling you, it can happen. It’s not for free, but this book is proof, I am proof, that the journey is worth it.”

Kenny Chesney Records An Audio Version of ‘HEART*LIFE*MUSIC’
HEART*LIFE*MUSIC will be released on November 4. Chesney is currently in the studio, recording an audio version of the book for fans to purchase as well.
“Thinking about the moments, reading the stories, it all got very real for me – the blessings of so much wisdom people gave me and unthinkable things I got to do,” Chesney says in a press release. “I was here at an amazing time/ [I] got to experience a Nashville closer to Willie Nelson or George Jones when they were trying to make it happen – and I got to live this crazy dream alongside so many heroes, make great friends. Hearing it come out of my mouth, it’s a lot to take in; I almost wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t been there.”
By his own admission, recording HEART*LIFE*MUSIC is not as quick of a process as he thought it might be.
“It takes a lot longer than I thought to record an audio book, or maybe it’s just I would get lost in seeing all the people and places along the way. In a way, it’s what I did with my summer vacation: visit all these adventures I’ve had, because when I started to hear the stories, I felt like I was living them all over again.”
What Kenny Chesney Hopes Fans Take Away From ‘HEART*LIFE*MUSIC’
Elsewhere in his TalkShopLive interview, Chesney says he always had a bit of wanderlust inside of him. But even he never imagined how far his own dreams would take him.
“I was, I guess, born a dreamer and a seeker, and always wondered what was past my county line,” the East Tennessee native reflects. “I remember going out and lying on my back in the backyard of my grandmother’s, at my grandmother’s house. And just staring at the stars, and wondering if there was anything out there, at all.
“And one of the storylines of this book is someone that was very curious as a child, and someone that really had music in his life,” he adds. “And thought there might be something in my life that involved music, but had no idea what that meant or where it was gonna lead me.”
It’s that passion for more that Chesney is now channeling to inspire others to not put any restrictions on their own dreams and ambitions.
“If there’s anybody out there that has a dream in their heart, or in their head, and they’re scared to take those steps to chase it, this book, and my journey is proof that it could happen,” Chesney says. “It’s not going to be given to you. You have to work really hard, and you have to give. Nothing is for free. Nothing. In a society where we all want instant gratification and validation, I think that things that last are things that you truly work hard for. And there’s a lot of those lessons in this book.”
