Kenny Chesney is receiving another honor. The Country Music Hall of Fame member will receive the inaugural Ocean Legacy Award, given to him when he performs at Tortuga Music Festival. The award is being given by Tortuga’s founder, Chris Stacey, in honor of Chesney’s upcoming sixth appearance at Tortuga, taking place on April 12.
“Kenny’s lifestyle and music celebrate everything people love about the ocean—the adventure, the energy, the deep connection we feel when we’re near the water,” Stacey says. “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Kenny, who headlined the first Tortuga Festival in 2013, and returned more than any artist. We’re proud to work with such a legendary artist who authentically embodies Rock The Ocean’s mission—a love for the ocean and a commitment to protecting it.”
“At Tortuga, we’ve always believed when people fall in love with the ocean, they’re more likely to protect it,” he continues. “Kenny’s music’s inspired millions of fans to develop a deeper appreciation for the ocean, and his presence here signals that reality. Not to mention, it gives all the charitable organizations an opportunity to talk to people one-on-one about conservation. For all those reasons, we wanted to recognize not just six shows, but how he’s engaged and invested people in the larger mission.”

What Kenny Chesney Says About Receiving the Inaugural Ocean Legacy Award
Chesney is proud to be returning to Tortuga Music Festival, which will mark his only performance in 2026, outside of his Live at Sphere Las Vegas residency. He recently extended his residency into July, due to fan demand.
“To me, when people can come together to learn about the ocean, how to treat it, and have a great time with their friends, that’s a total win,” Chesney says. “Even though we’re not touring this year, I do love playing on that beach, seeing all those boats in the water, and fans having the best time on that beach.
“To be given an award for doing what I love somewhere that brings every bit of it together almost feels wrong,” he adds. “But I’m honored if I could be part of bringing how we treat the ocean into focus.”

Kenny Chesney Returns to Las Vegas in 2026
Chesney headlined his inaugural Live at Sphere Las Vegas residency last year, knowing early on that he wanted to repeat the experience in 2026.
“Beyond how different it was, there was all the fun,” Chesney explains. “Seeing all the faces, plus all the crazy things we could do with the sound and visuals, I knew well before we finished, we were coming back and taking all of it even further. With all the work that’s going into changing up over half the show, adding more songs we might not be able to play in stadiums, pulling some surprises, five shows weren’t going to be enough.”
Chesney announced the good news over a holiday weekend, which he will also celebrate in Las Vegas in 2026.
“When we were able to make the 4th of July weekend a flyaway, come stay, see Guitars, Tiki Bars and let’s share a whole lotta love, I was very much, ‘Let’s do it,’” he adds. “So, we did. Like we flashed on the screen at our final show when it said, ‘See you next summer’ – we’re setting up for summer vacation, only the sand isn’t a beach, and you don’t have to drive anywhere!”
