Lady A‘s Charles Kelley is officially a father of two! The singer and his wife, Cassie, welcomed their second son, Archer Lancaster Kelley, on Tuesday, September 16. Weighing six pounds, 11 ounces, Archer joins nine-year-old big brother, Ward.
“Our little miracle Archer Lancaster Kelley arrived at 11:14 am on Sept. 16 and we are absolutely in love,” Kelley tells People. “We are so thankful to get to be his mom and dad, and to share the joy with his big brother, Ward, who is over the moon!”

Charles and Cassie Kelley Announce Her Pregnancy
In March, the Kelleys announced that Cassie was unexpectedly pregnant. It was especially surprising since Cassie, who is 42 years old, struggled to get pregnant with Ward.
“Many months went by with negative pregnancy tests and a lot of shared frustration … We went through several years of trying before finally seeing our fertility doctor in Nashville this past November,” Cassie said at the time (via People).
“When all was said and done, our doctor informed us that we had about a one percent chance of conceiving a child naturally. Yeah. One percent.”
“We never stopped hoping though … We made a plan to regroup this fall and explore other options to expand our family,” she continued. “Then it happened. I woke up one morning in June and there it was, a positive pregnancy test. I was in shock. Happy shock, but shock.”

The couple was understandably thrilled, although also a bit surprised, to find out they were having a second child.
“It’s all been an interesting thing to wrap my head around,” Kelley tells American Songwriter. “But we’re just trying to enjoy the moment of it all. Obviously, with a little bit of an older pregnancy, you worry, and we’re still keeping an eye on it all. But everything seems really good so far. Everything seems healthy.”
Charles Kelley on Sobriety
Kelley’s life with a newborn will be much different than when they had Ward, since Kelley has been sober for three years.
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of the congratulations on my three years of sobriety,” Kelley said on the three-year anniversary. “It really, truly has been some of the best years of my life. It definitely comes with its struggles. It’s not necessarily easy, but it makes life easier. The process is a journey, but it’s amazing what you learn about yourself, what I’ve learned about what I enjoy, what kind of man I want to be moving forward.
“I just really appreciate all the support, and all the people too that have been talking about what this record, how it makes them feel, some of the songs, how they relate to it, what it means to them,” he adds. “I just want to say thank you guys, for everything that y’all are doing in my life, and I appreciate you.”
