Lainey Wilson had a role created for her, in the hit TV show Yellowstone. She is also starring in the upcoming Reminders of Him movie, an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover book of the same name. And now, Wilson reveals she has plenty of other opportunities to work as an actress, if she so chooses.
“I’m honestly getting pitched things right and left, which is cool,” Wilson tells Taste of Country Nights. “Opportunities where I am a musician, opportunities where I’m not, opportunities just to write for shows.”
Wilson goes on to say that the opportunities are “kind of endless at this point.” And while she hasn’t committed to much, likely due to her superstar career, the 35-year-old says she is “entertaining a lot of things.”
Lainey Wilson in ‘Reminders of Him’
According to People, Reminders of Him will be released nationwide on February 13, 2026. Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers play the leading roles. Wilson’s character in the film is yet to be revealed.
It was after Wilson appeared in Yellowstone that she told her manager she wanted to pursue other roles as well.
“After Yellowstone, after I played a musician role, I told my manager, ‘The next thing I want to do is something where I step outside of that,’” Wilson tells Country Living. “And this was the first opportunity that had presented itself to us, and that felt great. For the very first time, I’m playing a character that’s not a musician. It’s cool for me to be able to step into other people’s shoes and write from their perspective, so this gave me an opportunity to step into a pair of shoes and act from a different point of view.
“It was fun,” she adds. “It just gave me a creative outlet, and I really enjoyed it. We’ll see what else happens, but I can see myself doing more of it for sure.”
Lainey Wilson’s “Somewhere Over Laredo” Single
Wilson’s country music career is also at an all-time high. Wilson currently has a Top 15 single with “Somewhere Over Laredo,” from her latest Whirlwind Deluxe album.
“I had just another time where I was like, songs were just coming out of me,” Wilson tells Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe. “And it was on the tail end of the Whirlwind, but I still felt like they were a part of it, a part of the Whirlwind story, so that’s why I felt like, we just need to go in and tack these on the end of it, because it’s still a part of the Whirlwind era.”
Even as Wilson explores more roles outside of country music, the Grand Ole Opry member remains firmly rooted in being an artist first, something that is evident on her latest project.
“[There’s] a sense of peace,” Wilson says of Whirlwind Deluxe. “You can hear it, even in ‘Somewhere Over Laredo,’ and in ‘Peace, Love and Cowboys.’ There are certain songs on there that I feel like just feel even more grounded and centered. There’s a little magical feeling to some of it. It feels like a step into another direction.”
In between her successful career and starring in a film, Wilson is also planning a wedding, and headlining her Whirlwind World Tour. Find all of Wilson’s music and upcoming shows at LaineyWilson.com.
