Lainey Wilson and Devlin “Duck” Hodges are still likely a bit away from their wedding, since Wilson admits she is just now starting to plan. But Wilson already knows one thing she wants: to make Hodges cry as she walks down the aisle.
“I’m excited to just step outside of the box and see what happens,” Wilson tells People. “So hopefully when he sees me, he’ll be boohooing.”
Wilson already disclosed that she is ditching her signature bell bottoms, albeit for one day, wearing a dress for the first time ever for Hodges.
“I need to go dress shopping or I need to talk to somebody about making a dress,” she says. “I need to go get fitted. How about that? That’s the first step.”

Wilson and Hodges began dating in 2021, just as her career was beginning to take off. Although much of Wilson’s time is on the road, she is grateful for Hodges as both an encourager and a safe place.
“The sky is the limit, that’s how he acts about everything,” Wilson boasts. “He’s just the place that I get to call home and I’m lucky to have him and I think he’s pretty dang lucky to have me, too.”
Because of Wilson’s superstar career, she reveals the two have to be intentional about the time they spend together.
“We don’t get to see each other all the time, and I do live a lot of my life on the road, so we’re also kind of figuring it out as we go, which is fun,” Wilson tells People.
“You have to definitely carve out the time,” she adds. “It has to be something that you’re very aware of, and you’re like, ‘Okay, I’ve got a day off here in ten days. I’ve got to dedicate that day to spend time with my person.’

Wilson and Hodges might not have set a date yet, but she has already revealed some details about her big day. In addition to sharing that she is wearing a dress, the Louisiana native also says she will not have country music as part of the celebration.
“I definitely, probably will have like a jazz band from New Orleans, something like that,” Wilson says on The Kelleigh Bannen Show.. “We’ll definitely, probably ride off on horses, or ride in on a horse, maybe in on a carriage, off on a horse.”

Why Devlin “Duck” Hodges Is Perfect For Lainey Wilson
Hodges is, according to Wilson, the perfect man for her. A former pro football player, Hodges has been incredibly supportive of Wilson, and the demands on her career.
“He is a brave man,” Wilson says. “First of all, anybody who is okay with this lifestyle and being in the business so much and being gone all the time, he was plucked from the sky for me …I can’t imagine doing this and being where I am now and then trying to find somebody who I feel like is okay with this lifestyle but also has the right intentions and everything. And Duck is just as true blue as they come. So the Lord has blessed me.”
Fortunately, Hodges also understands the demands of Wilson’s career, even if it sometimes puts a hardship on their relationship as a result.
“He is one of the purest hearts and people that I have ever met,” Wilson says. “He is my biggest cheerleader. We don’t really play by the rules.”
