Lainey Wilson Reveals Where She And Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges Want to Raise a Family

Lainey Wilson is already planning her future children with her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges. The Louisiana native says she and Hodges want to raise their family in the city she currently calls home.

“I think Nashville is just a good spot. Even if music wasn’t a thing, I think they’ve got good schools,” Wilson says on This Past Weekend With Theo Von (via Taste of Country).

“And I feel like you can go far out right now — you can go far out enough on any side and feel like you’re in the country,” she adds.

Wilson might have a very superstar, public life, but she wants her children to know the simple pleasure of life, away from technology.

“I want to raise my kids like [I was raised], playing in the dirt,” Wilson says. “I just want them to be outside and do things we grew up doing, and just enjoy those things.”

The One Rule Lainey Wilson and Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges Agree On About Their Future Children

Wilson and Hodges haven’t even tied the knot yet, but they do know one rule they will have for any of their children: no social media.

“Me and Duck took some kids that he coached last year to eat Mexican food not too long ago,” Wilson says, adding that they were twin boys.

“They were just, for 17 years old, carrying on great conversation, making eye contact — you could tell they were raised right,” she recalls. “And then I realized, they said they had never had social media.”

“I was like, ‘That’s why you can carry on a conversation,'” she adds.

Lainey Wilson’s Wedding To Devlin “Duck” Hodges

Wilson and Hodges got engaged in February, but have yet to get very far in the wedding planning. Wilson has yet to buy a wedding dress, although she does say she will ditch her signature bell-bottoms for her big day.

“I’m excited to just step outside of the box and see what happens,” Wilson tells People. “So hopefully when he sees me, he’ll be boohooing.”

“I need to go dress shopping or I need to talk to somebody about making a dress,” she says. “I need to go get fitted. How about that? That’s the first step.”

Because of Wilson’s superstar career, the two need to be intentional about the time they spend together. So far, it’s working.

“We don’t get to see each other all the time, and I do live a lot of my life on the road, so we’re also kind of figuring it out as we go, which is fun,” Wilson tells People.

Lainey Wilson’s Hit Single, “Somewhere Over Laredo”

Wilson currently has a Top 15 single with “Somewhere Over Laredo.” The song is from her latest Whirlwind Deluxe album, out now.

“I spend a lot of my time in the air on a plane, headed to the next town, to the next show,” Wilson tells iHeart of the song, which she wrote with  Trannie Anderson, Dallas Wilson and Andy Albert. “And I catch myself just looking out the window and dreaming, and thinking, and reminiscing, talking to God,  writing songs. And I feel like this song right here, it gave me an opportunity to step back into a pair of shoes that I wore years ago, and I got to tell a story from that perspective. And that’s what country music is. It’s about taking you back to a certain time and place, and memory and feeling, and that’s what we wanted to capture in this song right here.”
