LANCO Talks 'Surreal' Experience After Bus Catches Fire

The members of LANCO, along with their crew, are fortunately okay, after their bus recently caught fire. The band was en route to Nashville from a show in Iowa, when they had to pull over due to a snowstorm. Local police took the band, crew, and opening acts to a hotel, while the bus driver opted to stay on the bus, which ultimately caught fire. Fortunately, he escaped with only minor injuries.

Lead singer Brandon Lancaster shares the news on social media.

“Our bus outside of Des Moines last night did catch on fire,” Lancaster reveals. “Everyone is safe and sound. We’re okay. It started, we had a show in Des Moines and were headed back to Nashville, and got stuck in a really nasty blizzard. So bad that we ended up on the side of the road, not able to go any further. We found ourselves in a situation where we were trying to debate whether to stay on the bus and just ride it out until maybe a tow truck or something could help get us out of the conditions, or to just get out of there and try to get to a hotel.

“Fortunately, the Pella police department came out and helped us out a lot, and gave us some rides to the hotel,” he adds. “We were just happy to be out of the nightmare that was the blizzard. And then when we were at the hotel, we found out that not long after, our bus was engulfed in flames and caught on fire after we left.”

LANCO’s Brandon Lancaster Is Grateful After Bus Driver Escapes With Minor Injuries

Lancaster reveals that their bus driver opted to stay with the bus, and was able to escape the fire with only minor injuries.

“It’s a very surreal thing, knowing that a decision like that,” Lancaster reflects. “Had we elected to stay on the bus, there would have been 12 of us in the middle of that, trying to escape, and would have been very traumatic if anything, and potentially life-threatening. We’re just happy that we’re safe and sound. We really, just in moments like this, give a huge thanks to God. Thank you to everyone that’s reached out. Thank you for your prayers. It’s much appreciated. Even in circumstances like this, God is good.”

In a statement to Billboard, Lancaster says, “It’s been a surreal 18 hours honestly, and we are so thankful that everyone on board is safe and sound. It was a very scary situation and I can’t imagine what would have happened if we all decided to sleep on the bus. I know God was watching over us.”

LANCO’s latest album, We’re Gonna Make It, is out now.
