Lauren Alaina is sharing new details about the arrival of Beni Doll, her first child with her husband Cam Arnold, earlier this year. Alaina now reveals that her birth story was quite traumatic, but fortunately had a happy ending.
“The cord, her umbilical cord, was actually wrapped around her neck, and up under her shoulder, and then between her legs,” the singer tells ETOnline.com. “So every time I pushed her heart rate plummeted. It kind of became an emergency scenario, where we had to get her out. I was very concerned about her. I mean, everyone was. They brought half of the NICU in there. It was a very scary time, and I wasn’t sure if she was okay. So when they handed her to me – oh man, it makes me want to cry thinking about it – it was the best moment of my life.”
“Genuinely, nothing will ever top that,” she adds. “I looked over at my husband, and he was hysterically sobbing. And he’s not a crier. Not a crier, and it was a beautiful moment.”

Lauren Alaina Opens Up About The Loss Of Her Father
Alaina is also opening up about mourning the loss of her father, while at the same time celebrating becoming a first-time parent. Alaina became a mother less than a year after her dad passed away.
“My dad’s death was very unexpected and sudden,” Alaina says “There was no preparing for it. It was just a random Tuesday that we lost my dad. I was very, very close with my dad. [He was a] very important person in my life. So it was a devastating loss. I was in the thick of the grief and the loss and the denial and all of the things, and then I found out I was pregnant. So many people have said to me that they think my dad sent me the baby. And I do believe that, because I needed her.
“I had no idea how much I needed her,” she continues through tears. “But there was a gaping wound in my heart, and she helped heal it. She’s a little piece of him that I have. It’s still so hard and so fresh. To not have him, but to have her, was such a light in a dark time for my whole family. She will never know what a gift she’s been for us.”
Lauren Alaina Reveals Pregnancy Was A Surprise
The 30-year-old says they were not planning to have a baby when they did, making Beni a beautiful surprise. For Alaina, nothing has been the same for her since becoming a mother two months ago.
“It’s been an emotional journey for me, for sure,” Alaina says. Mentally, I think I’m doing okay. I mean, I am just trying to figure her out and do what’s best for he. And we’ve had some obstacles to overcome with breastfeeding and latching issues. I’m doing great. It’s just been such an adjustment. I mean, it flipped my whole world upside down in the most beautiful way. But it’s like everything, every thought that I have, she’s first in every thought that I have. So everything comes second to her. It’s so crazy how immediately, they put that baby on my chest, and my whole world changed.”
