Lorrie Morgan is moving forward without her husband, Randy White. White was 72 years old when he passed away in June, from mouth cancer. Morgan and White were together for 17 years, and had been married since 2010.
Morgan spoke to Everything Nash while at the Grand Ole Opry, for the 100th anniversary show.
“I’m doing okay,” Morgan says. “It’s a very strange holiday for me. It’s been up and down. Randy would have loved to have been here tonight. He loved the Opry. And so, it’s my first holiday without him. I have a lot of happiness tonight, and a lot of sadness. But mostly thankful.”
Still, Morgan was mostly excited to be part of the historic event, since she has been part of the Opry for over four decades.
“I’m so proud to be a part of this. I’ve celebrated my 41st anniversary with the Opry this past June,” Morgan says. “So a long time I’ve been here. … I was 13. I didn’t join when I was 13, but that was my first performance.”

What Lorrie Morgan Said After Her Husband Passed Away
After White passed away, following a lengthy health struggle, Morgan admitted she was having conflicting emotions about moving forward without him.
“He went through months of radiation and chemo, and he just declined and declined,” Morgan tells People. “He was on tube feeding because he couldn’t eat anything through his mouth because of the damn hole in the back of his throat. It was his decision, his body, I got it, but it’s not where I wanted him to be, and not where his close friends wanted him to be.”
While Morgan wishes White had made different choices, she is at peace with the decisions he made.
“There are days I’m angry and I’m mad at myself for not putting my foot down and saying, ‘No, you’re going here,’” she acknowledges. “He was just determined. … I talk to him. Most of the time I’m mad at him, and I apologize, and I’m like, ‘I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.’”
Lorrie Morgan Gives an Update on New Music
Morgan also reveals she is working on new music, after releasing Dead Girl Walking in 2024. Her first album, Leave the Light On, came out in 1989.
“I’m getting ready to record a brand-new album, and I’m so excited about it,” the 66-year-old says. “It’s going to be with Time Life, and so I’m really excited. We’re starting to look for new songs. I’ve already got two of the songs picked out. But I’m very excited for new music.”
