Luke Bryan Gives a New Health Update, Says He Is Still Not 100 Percent

Luke Bryan is giving a new update on his health. After canceling or postponing some shows, and tapping Eric Church to fill in for him on some festival dates, Bryan has resumed his Country Song Came On Tour. Still, while he is back on the road, Bryan reveals he isn’t completely healthy, due to his sickness.

“Three weeks ago I got COVID,” Bryan says. “You can boo that  … all you want, but I got it. And I had to cancel some shows. And now I’m back. But I am not 100 percent because it’s still kicking my a–. And you know what? I don’t give a sh–. When I can sing, I’m gonna sing. When I can’t, y’all are gonna sing, all right?

“You’re gonna see me hack,” he continues. “I can’t take any more medicine. I can’t do anything else, but just try to breathe. We’re gonna have fun tonight. We’re gonna make the most of it.”

Bryan first refunded concert attendees at a show in Arkansas on June 19, when he started losing his voice, although he continued with the show. The Georgia native shared a message to his fans as he resumed his Country Song Came On Tour on July 10.

“I wanted to thank everybody for all the well wishes, for the last few shows that I had to postpone and obviously cancel,” Bryan says in a video shared on social media. “I want to thank my buddy Eric Church for stepping in, and helping out with me. It really, really gets frustrating getting sick like that, and losing my voice, and having to take a couple of weekends off. But thank you guys for supporting me. I love y’all, and we’ll see you all in the shows to come.”

Bryan currently has a Top 10 hit right now with “Country Song Came On,” from his Mind of a Country Boy album. The song follows his 31st No. 1 hit, with “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.”

“Through the years, I’ve had songs that I really believed in, that not everybody believed in, and they worked out,” Bryan tells Billboard. “This one’s funny, because everybody’s really on the same page and excited to see it come out.”

“Country Song Came On” was written by Dan Alley, Ryan Beaver and Neil Medley, but it could have been written by Bryan.

“From the time I was 16 years old till I got my record deal, I [played] most of my concerts in little bars and honky tonks,” Bryan says. “So I spent a good 12, 13 years playing in those environments and playing the Merle Haggard songs and the Waylon Jennings songs and the Keith Whitleys and all that. So it’s nice to find one like this that really is authentically me.”
