Luke Bryan Is Working On a New Album as 'Country Song Came On' Hits Top 15

Luke Bryan might soon have new music to share. The father of two has a Top 15 hit with “Country Song Came On,” but hints a new project might soon be coming.

“I’m on tour right now,” Bryan tells The Tennesseean. “I’m actively writing songs. People always ask me, ‘Are you working on a new album?’ I don’t think I ever stop really working on a new album. I’m always trying to write a little bit and find songs. My current single, ‘Country Song Came On,’ is nearing the Top 10 right now, which I’m excited about. But the bottom line is, get in the studio at some point and record some new music, and just keep doing the deal. Keep enjoying being a country music singer.”

“Country Song Came On” is a bit of a full-circle song for Bryan, since it reminds him of his early years, before his massive success.

“From the time I was 16 years old till I got my record deal, I [played] most of my concerts in little bars and honky tonks,” Bryan tells Billboard. “So I spent a good 12, 13 years playing in those environments and playing the Merle Haggard songs and the Waylon Jennings songs and the Keith Whitleys and all that. So it’s nice to find one like this that really is authentically me.”

Bryan didn’t write “Country Song Came On,” which instead was penned by Dan Alley, Ryan Beaver and Neil Medley. Still, Bryan knew as soon as he heard it that he wanted to include the song on his Mind of a Country Boy album. Perhaps surprisingly, everyone else agreed.

“Through the years, I’ve had songs that I really believed in, that not everybody believed in, and they worked out,” Bryan says. “This one’s funny, because everybody’s really on the same page and excited to see it come out.”

Bryan could soon have another No. 1 hit with “Country Song Came On.” He has already amassed 31 chart-topping singles, after the success of “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.”It’s a number he admits he struggles to wrap his head around.

“I’ve tried to approach my career and the business to never take a day for granted,” Bryan tells CMT. “Never take a hit song for granted. So … 31 is really hard for me wrap my brain around. It’s a testament to the fans supporting me throughout the years. Whether I’m on stage or writing music or recording songs, I just always try to put them first, and make sure that I can do a song that relates to them.

“‘Love You, Miss You, Mean It’ certainly feels like it has been,” he continues. “To have it be No. 31 is pretty crazy. When I go back and look at the list of 31, it freaks me out. I don’t wanna keep talking about it, ’cause I’m scared the streak’s gonna end.”
