Luke Combs is giving a new update on his next album. The 35-year-old reveals he has already recorded plenty of songs, but still isn’t quite finished with it yet.
“I probably got one recording session left on it, but I’ve already recorded, I don’t know over 30 songs, I would think,” Combs tells Audacy. “I don’t know that there’s any plans to do like the big album thing. I just don’t know if I’d love that idea. There’s nothing against it. I mean, obviously it works really well.”
Combs may not want to do a big album like Morgan Wallen, but he might have a hard time choosing which songs to leave off of the album.
“I’m really stoked about everything that we’ve recorded. I think it’s really, really strong stuff,” Combs hints. “Obviously everyone says that about every album they’ve ever done, so take that with a grain of salt. But it’s really just up to people how good it is, but I’m really excited about it. I’m really stoked to be getting back into it.”
The Name of Luke Combs’ Next Album
Combs admits he has no idea what his next album will be called. He adds that he likely won’t know until he knows he has all of the songs he needs for his next project.
“I don’t know what it’s called yet. It’s hard to know without having everything recorded,” he adds. “Right now we’re just, we have the songs we need.”
The Songs On Luke Combs’ Next Album
Combs hasn’t revealed the names of any of the songs on his new record. He did drop one song, “Back In The Saddle,” which is an energetic, uptempo track.
“The thing that made me want to make ‘Back In The Saddle’ the lead single for my next record is, I think, that’s kind of what this song’s about,” Combs tells Audacy. “It’s about being in the studio, just getting back in the swing of things, letting people know that you’ve got new music coming out. I’m excited about being around and being on tour, and being in the studio and writing songs. Just being around, and I’m excited for people to check it out.”
What Luke Combs Has Said About His New Record
Earlier this year, the father of two said he was working hard on his next album.
“I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working on what my next record looks like,” Combs said in March. “And as it begins to take shape I can honestly say I’ve never felt better about one at this stage. It’s early on, but I really do think it could wind up being the best record I’ve ever made.”
Luke Combs’ Goal With His Next Album
Combs has already done a lot in country music, but he has goals that go far beyond the genre. Combs reveals he wants to bring other people into country music, with his songs.
“I’m passionate about country music, and have a deep knowledge of its inner workings,” he adds. “But I’m also someone who ran as far away from country music as I could and hated it, for a decade, when I was ten or 11 years old,”
It’s because of the success of his cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” that Combs now wants to invite other people into country music.
“I don’t think any of this is possible without Tracy’s stamp of approval,” Combs says. “[It] has created the opportunity to showcase how my work can be loved and appreciated by people who may have thought they could never love my music.”
Luke Combs’ Tour Plans For 2026
Combs has said he is only doing a handful of dates this year, so he can spend more time at home with his family. But the North Carolina native hints he has big, big tour plans for 2026.
“I got a big tour coming next year,” Combs says. “I just kind of finalized a lot of the details on that here in the last week or so. So new record coming up soon, new tour coming up. I’m just excited. I’m excited and I’m back. I’m back doing stuff and being around, and obviously spending time at home.”
