Luke Combs‘ new single is out! The country music hitmaker just released “Back In The Saddle,” the first song from his forthcoming new album.

“The thing that made me want to make ‘Back In The Saddle’ the lead single for my next record is, I think, that’s kind of what this song’s about,” Combs tells Audacy. “It’s about being in the studio, just getting back in the swing of things, letting people know that you’ve got new music coming out. I’m excited about being around and being on tour, and being in the studio and writing songs. Just being around, and I’m excited for people to check it out.”

Combs penned the feel-good anthem with Jonathan Singleton and Dan Isbell, frequent collaborators and close friends of Combs.

“Jonathan and Dan had sent me the chorus to this thing,” Combs recalls. “They’re like, ‘Is this in the right direction…? And I remember being like, ‘Dude, this is a me thing for sure.’ Came in a few days later, got together with those guys, and woodshedded this thing. It’s just fun. I got to write this song with two of my best friends. That’s just such a unique thing to get to do. And to feel so confident in the writing process, and being able to trust those guys, and those guys being able to trust me. It turned out really great. I think it’s going to be a huge tune for me. I really, really do.”

The video features Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Richard Petty. “Back In The Saddle” is Combs’ first new single since “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” out in 2024. The song is also Combs’ introduction to what fans can expect from his next project.

“I just think this song is kind of badass to be completely honest,” he admits. “It feels tough. When we wrote it, and we recorded it, it felt tough and you just hope people love it.”

Earlier this year, Combs revealed he was taking time away to focus on his family. But he hinted that he has a big tour planned for 2026 as well.

“I got a big tour coming next year,” Combs says. “I just kind of finalized a lot of the details on that here in the last week or so. So new record coming up soon, new tour coming up. I’m just excited. I’m excited and I’m back. I’m back doing stuff and being around, and obviously spending time at home. I just wanted to be able to talk to you guys again, me to you. I know I used to do stuff like this a lot, and I miss doing it. Love you guys and see you soon.”

Combs wanted to spend most of 2025 at home with his wife and two sons. It’s because of his loyal fans that Combs even felt able to enjoy a break, something he doesn’t take for granted.

“I feel like country music for a long time has been, ‘Let’s tour every year as hard as we can tour’ while it’s hot,” Combs tells People.  “But I’m now like, ‘Why can’t you tour really hard, build a really great fan base, care about them, support them, give them exclusive things, give them great experiences and let them understand that you care about them,’ and then if you do want some time for you, you can tell them, ‘I can’t tour this year.’ I wanted to get to the point where I could do that, and it not be career suicide.”
