Megan Moroney Drops 'Wish I Didn't' Video, Starring Dylan Efron

Megan Moroney‘s new song is here. The singer-songwriter just released “Wish I Didn’t,” a song she wrote with Emily Weisband, Hillary Lindsey, and Luke Laird. Moroney appears in the video, which is a take on the 2005 Mr. and Mrs. Smith film, with reality TV star, Dylan Efron.

“Wish I Didn’t” is on Moroney’s forthcoming third studio album, Cloud 9. The record will be released on February 20.

The song says in part, “Don’t make me wish I didn’t / Get dressed up, let you take me out / Wreck your bed, make you all I’m talking about / Consider this your warning, you’ve got one shot to listen / I think I’m falling for you, don’t make me wish I didn’t.

What Megan Moroney Says About ‘Cloud 9’

Moroney already has a Top 5 single with “6 Months Later,” her debut single from the record.

“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney says of the record. “Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”

The Story Behind Megan Moroney’s  “6 Months Later”

Moroney wrote “6 Months Later” with Ben Williams, Rob Hatch, and David “Messy” Mescon. The song is inspired by a breakup Moroney went through in college.

“You get better, hotter, stronger, and then you get grossed out,” Moroney tells Billboard. “It makes you wonder what you even saw in him. But he always calls, right? Eventually, you get grossed out by the person. That was the final piece of the story that we wanted to tell.”

The 28-year-old adds that songs like “6 Months Later” aren’t what she naturally writes, which is partly why she is rightfully so proud of it.

“Any kind of empowering tempo, feel-good song — I love those because I can’t organically write a lot of those,” Moroney says. “I am the emo cowgirl who loves sad songs. So when I get a really fun song, I get really excited about it.”
