Megan Moroney brought a touch of humor to CMA Country Christmas. Moroney performed “All I Want for Christmas Is a Cowboy.” The song, which Moroney wrote with Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter, and Micah Carpenter, is on Moroney’s 2024 Blue Christmas…Duh EP.

“All I Want for Christmas Is a Cowboy” says, “Give me tall, hot in a Stetson / Something I can unwrap like a present / Put him in some new Luccheses / Make him call me ‘Baby’ / I swear I’ve been good all year / Please, Santa, please / All I want for Christmas is a cowboy / Who only wants me.”

Moroney performed as part of the all-star holiday special, which also includes performances by  Little Big Town, Lady A, Riley Green, Parker McCollum, BeBe Winans, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band,  Susan Tedeschi, and Derek Trucks, plus Jordan Davis and Lauren Daigle, who also hosted the show.

CMA Country Christmas is streaming now on Hulu and Disney+.

Megan Moroney’s Favorite Christmas Tradition

Ahead of CMA Country Christmas, Moroney shared what her favorite holiday traditions are in her family.

“Christmas Eve, my whole family and I, my dad makes us watch It’s A Wonderful Life, the black and white version, every single year,” the Georgia native says. “And he makes chocolate chip cookies. And then on Christmas Day, we have lobster.”

Megan Moroney Returns To the Top 10 With “6 Months Later”

Moroney has more to celebrate than just the holidays. Moroney has a Top 10 single right now with “6 Months Later.” Written by Moroney, along with Ben Williams, David Mescon, and Rob Hatch, the song is on Moroney’s forthcoming new album, Cloud 9, out on February 20.

The song is a light-hearted look at a relationship that ended. As is typical for Moroney, she drew at least some of the inspiration by thinking about an ex-boyfriend.

“Any kind of empowering tempo, feel-good song — I love those because I can’t organically write a lot of those,” Moroney tells Billboard. “I am the emo cowgirl who loves sad songs. So when I get a really fun song, I get really excited about it.”

Cloud 9 is Moroney’s third studio album, and one she can’t wait to share with the world.

“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney says of the project. “Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
