Miranda Lambert has never shied away from the truth in her music. Lambert, who recently had a Top 40 single with “Run,” about the end of her marriage to Blake Shelton, feels it is her duty as an established artist to speak her truth, even if it’s uncomfortable.
“I think it’s every artist’s responsibility to sing about the truth,” Lambert tells Country Living. “I write and sing about what I know, what I have experienced, or what someone I know or someone I heard about is going through. Those stories reflect what most of my fans are dealing with as well, so it covers all the emotions.”
Lambert’s success is indisputable. The Texan holds the record for the most ACM Awards, beating out her heroes like George Strait and Reba McEntire. She’s also had hit after hit at radio, penning several of her own songs, like “Gunpowder & Lead,” “Tin Man,” “Settling Down” and more.
“It’s a special gift to be a singer-songwriter, and I take it very seriously,” Lambert explains. “The awards are wonderful, of course, and it never gets old when you are recognized for your work. Just as important, or truly even more so, are the fans—that is your direct feedback on what you create as an artist… As an artist, I want to be open to keep exploring and releasing music that’s maybe unexpected—it’s an important part of my growth and responsibility.”

Miranda Lambert’s New Chapter In Country Music
In 2023, she and her frequent collaborator Jon Randall opened Big Loud Texas, an imprint of Big Loud Records.
“We are still at the beginning of that journey, and I am loving that I can be a part of mentoring artists and supporting them,” Lambert explains. “Since I have been through this experience myself, I know all the different stages of building a career, which puts me in a good position to be helpful to our Big Loud Texas artists on their own path. I have always let music lead, and I know that it’s also important to be commercially successful if you want to be around for a long time, so I hope I can help them balance that.”
In 2024, Lambert released Postcards from Texas, her first release on Republic Records, after leaving Sony Music Nashville, where she had been for 20 years.Lambert and Chris Stapleton have a Top 40 hit with “A Song To Sing,” out now.
“The song makes you feel good,” Lambert says on SiriusXM‘s The Highway.. “So it was like, ‘Let’s sing about a love story in a good way.’ And no one’s lived a love story on the road like Chris and Morgane, obviously, and how the music can ground you and bring you back together, in the same way that ‘Islands in the Stream’ makes you feel. It’s that. It’s that feel-good, heartwarming, you just kind of want to sway and hug the person you’re with. It’s all okay. We’re all right. Because the road is a tough life. And if you can find somebody that can put up with it, and love you through it and feels like home away from home, then that’s kind of what the song is about.”
