Rascal Flatts just announced a 2026 tour, and now it seems a new album might be coming as well. The trio, made up of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, are currently looking for songs, although DeMarcus says they have earned the right to be picky.

“We’ve been blessed to do so many albums with so many different types of songs, and covered so many different things from R&B feels to hardcore country feels to pushing the rock edge a little bit,” DeMarcus says. “For me, I now look for something that jumps out at me as being unique, whether it’s a lyric or a melody.

“The bar’s been set so high it’s very, very hard to find something now that jumps out at you,” he continues. “And I think it’s safe to say for all of us, it’s a difficult thing to find that song or a group of songs that’s different enough that makes you want to go in the studio and put the time into cutting.”

Rascal Flatts’ Current Single

Rascal Flatts have a Top 25 hit with “I Dare You,” a collaboration with the Jonas Brothers. The song is the only original on Rascal Flatts’ latest Life Is A Highway: Refueled Duets, their first album in eight years.

“We were putting this record together, and one of the people we reached out to were the Jonas Brothers, about doing one of our songs,” DeMarcus recalls. “And they said they were thrilled that we asked, but instead of doing one of our songs, they had written a song recently with Shay Mooney that they wanted to throw in the hat. And I loved the song when I first heard it. It seemed to fit what we do, and it’s a really great collaboration.”

The rest of Life Is A Highway: Refueled Duets is new versions of their former hits. Fortunately, “I Dare You” fits perfectly on the project.

“It’s about a girl who’s really protecting her heart, and not really sure if she wants to jump into this relationship with this guy,” LeVox tells iHeartCountry. “Basically, he’s just begging going, ‘Hey, give me a chance. Let me love you. Let me be the one to take that leap of faith.’”

Rascal Flatts’ 2026 Life Is A Highway Tour

Rascal Flatts surprised fans when they announced their 2025 Life Is A Highway Tour, a return for the trio, after splitting in 2020. With the tour quickly selling out all over the country, Rascal Flatts knew they wanted to return to the road next year as well.

“What a ride the past year has been! We’re so excited to continue this tour, the response we’ve received from everyone has been overwhelming and humbling,” DeMarcus says. “We’ve truly had such a blast over the past year getting back in front of our fans out on the road, and we thought, ‘Why not keep the party going?’”

Lauren Alaina and Chris Lane will serve as the opening acts on the tour. Alaina joined Rascal Flatts for part of their 2025 tour, before coming off the road ahead of the birth of her first child, Beni Doll. The 2026 tour kicks off on January 15 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
