Riley Green Bought His Mother a Car For Christmas Last Year

Riley Green is a generous giver, especially at Christmas. The 37-year-old gave his mother an extravagant gift last year, a new vehicle, although he obviously couldn’t put it under the tree.

“I bought my mom a car for Christmas last year,” Green reveals on Audacy. “And if I get somebody something like that, I just draw a picture of the car in the card.”

Green also shares how he gave his mother her present, which was given as part of one of his favorite holiday traditions.

“We do a Christmas party, a costume Christmas party. We had a costume party competition, and Mom won,” Green says, adding that she was the Pigeon Lady from Home Alone. “Honestly, she was going to win either way, but I kept giving away prizes. Like, second place got a golf bag, and then she got a car, because she won. But she was going to win anyway. I wasn’t giving a car to a stranger. But she actually was the best costume. She had little birds on her. It was really cool.”

The car isn’t the only nice gesture Green did for his mother. He recently told Taste of Country that she carries his checkbook around so she can buy things that she needs, on his dime.

For Green, who travels much of the year, there is no place like home, especially over the holidays.

“Well, Christmas has always been a big tradition in our family,” the Alabama native says. “They all get together and kinda share stories and memories. My favorite family tradition during Christmas is definitely the food, the home-cooked meals back at home. I kind of miss those being on the road a lot.”

Green recently performed an original song, “Christmas to Me,” for CMA Country Christmas.

Riley Green Shares Details of His Next Album

Green is also sharing details about his new album. After the success of his latest Don’t Mind If I Do record, which includes his hit single with Ella Langley on the title track, Green hints that his next set of tunes is almost completed.

“We recorded some new songs,” Green says. “There’s country stuff. I feel like it’s a little raw, a little rougher recording, which I really enjoy. I think that was something we did right on this last album. I was excited about going into the studio and doing a little less production, kind of building around an acoustic track, and that’s literally what we did. There’s some stuff that I feel like is a little different, a little less produced, which is kind of the direction I’ve wanted to go.”

Green hopes to have his new album completed by the time he embarks on his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, kicking off in April, where he will be joined by one of his favorite artists.

Justin Moore‘s coming out with me. I’ve been a big fan of Justin for a long time … I’ve been listening to Justin forever. And you talk about somebody that’s going to play probably 45 minutes, 60 minutes, and he won’t be able to play all of his hits. He’s got so many hit songs.”
